Dragon Happenings

Dear Imagine Families,

DragonLogo

We had a wonderful week in the classrooms, but our buses were a challenge.  We had maintenance issues requiring us to utilize the alternate schedule, and they will continue this week.

On Monday Bus 1 is on the alternate schedule in the morning.  We should know by noon whether the exhaust issue has been fixed so it can be on the road for the pm run.  An update will be placed on the website.

On Tuesday we need to send Bus 2 in for repairs.  We'll run the alternate schedule for these students on Tuesday. An e-mail is being sent to all families affected.  If you don't get a notification, please let Dayna Reiss know as soon as possible.

ThinkCentral- We utilize Go Math as a resource for our elementary math program.  Our math and science resources both have online resources on ThinkCentral.  Parents can find a powerpoint explaining the resources available to you and your child on the Parent tab of our website, as well as here.

Music Update-  Mrs. Nelken added a few music websites to our Parent Websites list on the left side of the newsletter.  Check them out!

Looking for a home-  We have a number of donated televisions that are no longer needed.  If you're interested, please contact Kristen Conway at the front desk.  We also have overhead projectors and screens that need a home.

Pressure Washing- We're looking for a parent that could pressure wash the picnic tables at the school.  Let us know if you're able to volunteer this service.

Don't forget to sign up to be a volunteer for this school year!  A reminder to parents that siblings are not allowed to accompany parents on field trips, while volunteering in the classroom, or during classroom parties.

Bus Driver: We are adding a fourth bus next year, and are in need of back up drivers or substitute drivers.  If you have a CDL license and are interested in being a bus driver, please contact theresa.reed@imagineschools.com  .

Common Core Standards
CommonCore The state of Florida is one of the 46 states that have agreed to implement the Common Core State Standards.  The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them.

Target Dollars
TargetForty-five families have enrolled Imagine School with their Target Red Card and this week we received a check for $1900.  Parents received 5% off all purchases, and Target donates 1% to our school.

Please consider filling out an application for REDcard the next time you visit Target. Families can sign up for a debit card (no fees) or a credit card.
  • You'll automatically get 5% off when you use your card in Target stores in the United States and on Target.com
  • When you use your REDcard at Target.com, your purchases ship for free. No minimum purchase. No membership fee. And that's on top of the 5% savings you already receive just for shopping with your REDcard.
  • Choose Imagine School and Target will donate up to 1% of your REDcard purchases at Target stores in the U.S and at Target.com.
Just imagine how much could be raised for Imagine if more than 45 families participated by shopping at Target with a REDcard!

We also earned $250 in gift certificates from Target thanks to your online voting!!  Thank you!

Open House
OpenHouseMark your calendar!  Our Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, September 18th.  This is an evening for your child to share their classroom with you.  It is a social evening, and not intended for conferencing.

The staff are setting up a staggered schedule to account for all the cars.  The times will be included in next week's issue.
Car Pooling
CarPooling We've had several parents looking for car pooling opportunities.  This section will be added to the weekly newsletter.

From Jill Presley-
(813) 263-2542
Jillp4@Yahoo.com

My daughter is a new 7th grade student at Imagine. We live in North Tampa and would like to find another family to carpool with.  I travel north on 41 and am looking for someone that lives in Lutz.

eSembler
eSembler We're working with the school district to address the access problems on eSembler.

eSembler is the online site that tracks student attendance and tardies.  Parents can view their child's attendance record by logging on.  Teachers enter grades into eSembler and provide access for parents to view in the upper grades.

Parents can set up a username and password at this site.
Arrival/Dismissal
CrossingGuard Arrival- We adjusted the drop off time in the morning to begin at 8:25.  This has reduced the back up in the drop off lane around the field.

Walk up entry through the front door remains at 8:30.

Dismissal- Walk up at the front door is limited to parents that must be at an appointment by 4.  This needs to be arranged with Kristen Conway at the front desk.

Some parents have been waiting in car line for long periods of time. I encourage you to get to the school by 3:45 and you won't have to wait.
Odyssey of the Mind
OdysseyOfTheMind

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program."

Parents and students are invited to an informational meeting that will be held on Thursday, September 27th, at 6:00 PM in the school's gym. Ms. Freda Abercrombie, head of the Gulf Coast Region, will be the guest speaker. An informational packet will be distributed.
