NEWSLETTER                                              Issue 1:2011

Dear Friends of Family Crisis Center,

Here we are almost through January 2011.  Seems impossible, but we know the calendars do not lie.  The 4th Annual "Roses in Winter" New Year's Eve Ball went off without a hitch, and we are so grateful for the staff, volunteers, and community members who helped make this year's ball one of the best.  I must also mention the Farmington Noonday Civitans who were our "staff" at this year's ball, and were the best volunteers and help anyone could have hoped for.  They definately went above and beyond for us this year.  For those of you who missed out, remember that this year's ball will be our 5th annual, and will surely be the best yet!  The planning committee has already begun to meet to discuss the 2011 Ball.

As promised, we wanted to update the community on the progress being made at our home on 208 E. Apache Street.  We have been comfortable in our temporary location for a little over 5 months, but there is definately an air of excitement and anticipation as we know we will be moving into our brand new buidling in the late spring.  In this issue you will find an update on the renovation project and some information about the first ever Town Hall Meeting on Teen Dating.  Family Crisis Center wishes you all happy and healthy relationships in 2011.

Sincerely,
Amber Valencia,
Community Outreach Coordinator

Construction Update

We took a field trip to check in on the progress of the renovations going on at our home on 208 E. Apache, and were pleasantly surprised at the progress, and the prospect of moving back into our old home.

Although the project was not an expansion, besides utilizing the front porch space, the building has so much more usable space.  There are various rooms for counseling, huge group counseling rooms, adequate rooms for family and child/adolescent therapy, file rooms, and administrative offices.  The whole building has transformed and it is amazing to see how much space was not being utilized because of the ancient boiler.  When we went on our field trip, the walls were being taped in preparation for texturing.  In just a few short months so much progress has been made.

Contruction is moving right along as scheduled, give or take a couple of weeks.  This is quite an amazing fact, given the sub-zero temperatures we have been facing in this new year.  Family Crisis Center anticipates moving back "home" in the late spring and we are looking forward to having an open house to share the new and improved Family Crisis Center with the community.
