I am emailing you because you have requested to be on our FIRST Lego League Bayou Builders email list.  I am so proud to share with you that we are entering our 3rd season and with that we've had great success with our last two teams.  Most recently, the Bayou Builders team were selected during the qualifying competition to advance to the Louisiana Regionals.  At Regionals our team placed 1st in the "Innovative Solution" category. 

With expected, normal progression some of our members have chosen to pursue different interests and we currently have some openings on our FLL Bayou Builders team.  The coaches, team and parents have met and decided to develop a more selective process in accepting new team members.  In order to be invited to join the Bayou Builders FLL team, interested children must attend our Bayou Builders Robotics Workshop. Please see the information below to learn more about this workshop.

When: Friday, March 16
Time: 5:00pm - 7:00pm
Where: Louisiana Children's Discovery Center (113 N. Cypress Street in Downtown Hammond)

In this workshop, children interested in participating in the Bayou Builders FIRST Lego League Team will be introduced to the concepts relevant to the FLL Team. The FLL Team is not a Lego-building club but more of a team building, problem-solving, robotics based program.  It is in this workshop that children will learn some basic programming of the Lego Mindstorm Robot and experience a taste of what it will be like to be on the team.  After this workshop if the child is still interested, he or she will complete an interest application and the Bayou Builders Team and coaches will review each application.  Invitations will then be sent to children based upon their interest and involvement in the workshop. 

To register your 9-14 year old child (child must be 9 by August 1, 2012) for the Bayou Builders Robotics Workshop, please call 985-340-9150 or email Kim Walker. Spaces are limited for the workshop so please contact us as soon as possible. If the demand dictates it then we will consider offering additional workshops.
