Innovate with Duct Tape!

Have you heard of the very innovative creations made from duct tape? With the help of our Duct Tape Guru, Garrett Sherman, you can learn how to make a variety of projects purely out of duct tape! Garrett has made shoes, purses, belts and more. Learn from him in this fun, creative workshop. This workshop is appropriate for persons ages 8 and above. Mardi Gras & Super Science!

Can't make it to a parade on Mardi Gras? No problem!
 Enjoy Mardi Gras all day (10am-6pm) at the discovery center. Each hour children's names will be drawn to be selected King and Queen of the Krewe of Discovery Parade and other special activities include the Mardi Gras Feather Flop, King Cake Walk, Mask Making & Super Mardi Gras Science.
Admission will be $1 extra ($6.50) and for members $1!

Spectrum Discovery Day!

8:30-9:15am OR 9:15-10:00am
Children on the Autism Spectrum and their families are invited to register for our Spectrum Discovery Day. This private, before-hours event was designed to allow children on the Autism Spectrum with a time devoted just to them so that they may explore, discover and enjoy the discovery center free of extra stimuli. The exhibits are modified to minimize the volume, only a limited number of families may register per session and we have partnered with Southeastern's Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders to offer additional support for the families on the Spectrum. LCDC Regional Spelling Bee
Students from 8 different school districts will compete for the big prize of a one week, all expenses paid trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.!
The Bee will be held at the Student Union Theater on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University on Saturday, February 25 at 2:00pm. The public is invited to attend!
Sponsors include The Hampton Inn of Hammond, Entergy, The Daily Star, Southeastern Louisiana University Department of Teaching & Learning and PJ's Coffee of Downtown Hammond.
