[Hammond, LA] The Louisiana Children's Discovery Center (LCDC) announces the sponsorship of a 17 parish region of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Scripps National Spelling Bee

Students in 4th-8th grades have not had the opportunity to advance to the SNSB because there has not been a sponsor in this region for many years. The Louisiana Children's Discovery Center is stepping up to become this regions sponsor and provide that opportunity to many well deserved children.

The LCDC 1st Annual Spelling Bee is open to children in 4th-8th grades from public, parochial & home schools. Schools can visit www.spellingbee.com to register for the bee and receive a large list of resources to help prepare for the spelling bee. Each school will send one champion from their school level bee to the LCDC bee to be held sometime between February 1 and March 28, 2012. The winner of the LCDC bee will advance to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. The LCDC is looking for co-sponsors of the Spelling Bee and interested individuals, companies or organizations may contact Kim Walker for more information at 985-340-9150.
