School's Back in Session! 

As always Hot August Night in Downtown Hammond was a blast! We had a great time here the discovery center and at the Columbia Theater with Louisiana Public Broadcasting, Buddy & the Dinosaur Train! Go to our Facebook page and tell us what your favorite thing was about the night!

We'd like to thank the Audubon Nature Institute for the Dinosaur fossils, replicas and casts that we have on display.  Stop by the Discovery Center on any of the dates listed above to check out what dinosaur fun we have for you!

We're happy to partner with Dr. Steigler of the Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders to offer an event just for children on the Autism Spectrum and their families.

We're happy to partner with Dr. Georgina Little and the Southeastern Department of Chemistry & Physics for this fun Discovery Science activity!

 

International Year of ChemistryTo celebrate the International Year of Chemistry, children will experience a variety of chemical reactions which will leave kids wondering more about their world and the environment around them.  Some activities are:

  • self-inflating balloons showing a chemical reaction
  • making CO2
  • discussing what happens when you control/change certain conditions
