Wild Wednesdays!

Wednesday, 7/20 & 7/27 from 11-1pm
 Join us for some wild fun!
- Southeastern's Biology Department Graduate Student Jen Lee will be here showcasing some of her wild captures such as lizards, frogs & snakes on 7/20 from 11am-1pm!
- "Wild About Ducks" is happening on 7/27/11. Playologists, Baylie & Rochell will be putting on a fun, educational program about Wood Ducks and kids will be able to build a Wood Duck Nest Box. Email Kim Walker for more info or to register your child for the Wood Duck project.

TUG-OF-WAR!!

Who doesn't love a good ole' Tug-Of-War? Eat your protein and bring your best tug with you on 7/21. If you have a team and would like to pair up against another team please let us know! We're happy to set it up! If you have questions or would like to register a team then email us. This fun activity is open to teams who want to register but will also be open to our guests visiting on 7/21. Special thanks to Crossfit Hammond for helping us out by loaning the Tug-Of-War rope for the day!

Cookies with Piper!

Don't you just love our newest edition to the discovery center, "Piper the Pelican"? To celebrate our new friend, we're happy to have Sweet Ideas the Cake Shoppe help us out with this special "Cookies with Piper" workshop.
 Children ages 4-12 years old will enjoy this sweet time of decorating pelican shaped cookies, an appearance by Piper, a pelican shaped cookie cutter to take home and play in the center (after the workshop with parent).  Do you love to paint? We're excited to welcome Painting with a Twist to the discovery center!
Painting With Piper!
If painting is your thing and you love Piper then join us for this exciting activity. Children ages 6 and above will leave this event having painted their very own Piper the Pelican. The cost of this event includes all materials, snack, play time with Piper and admission to play in the discovery center (with parent) after the painting session. Caring Through Cranes

 Thursdays at 4pm
Have you heard the story of the 1,000 Paper Cranes? Then come by on Thursdays at 4pm as Mrs. Lori teaches children the ancient Japanese tradition of making a wish come true with folding paper cranes.
Kids will participate in story time, make a wish & write it on a crane and learn the Origami method of folding a paper crane. They'll also hear all about the tradition of folding 1,000 paper cranes and help the discovery center reach its goal of 1,000 paper cranes! Click here to see the instructions on folding them. You can fold them at home and send them to us also!

One item to share right off the bat is that we're changing the Creation Station crafts so that all day every Friday we're happy to offer "Free Paint Fridays!". We're bringing out the messy so that you don't have to! Join us any Friday in the Creation Station and let your imagination guide your artwork!
