Volunteering: It's the way to play! It's time to sign-up for November!
Greetings!
Since our opening on October 1 we have had various wonderful volunteers already earn 100+ hours! The opening has been a huge success and couldn't be done without the caring, nurturing time of you - our volunteers. Thank you!
Below you can click on a link to schedule your hours for November. We look forward to fun days of play! You will notice something different in November. There are a few Mondays on the volunteer calendar this time. If you see a Monday it is because we have a large field trip scheduled for that day. Feel free to plug yourself into one of the slots to be available during our field trips! (Mondays we are closed to the general public but available for large - more than 75 students - field trips).
The 3 main things to remember when volunteering: 1. Safety of the children 2. Fun, creative play 3. Clean, organized play area
Thank you for giving of your time!
A few important notes to help make your volunteer experience a great one:
Please check in at the front desk when you enter. There will be a "Volunteer Check-In Folder" with a printout of the Volunteer Spot Roster. Find your name and initial or sign.
Let the front desk staff know that you are here. She/he will have someone show you where your volunteer spot is (if you don't already know). You will receive a brief introduction of what your activities/duties will be. Volunteering is mostly on-the-job, hands-on training!
If you notice anything that needs attention with the exhibits, please let a staff person know.
Parents/teachers are with their children and "should" be monitoring them but please still be sure to watch out for the children's safety, especially the exit doors!
If there are any accidents/injuiries please let a staff person know so that an incident form can be completed and held on file.
When you need a break, please let a staff person know so that you can be relieved.
DRESS CODE: You will be playing with children so comfortable clothing is the best! We recommend khaki pants (no jeans) and a solid colored polo type shirt. We have ordered smocks/aprons for volunteer use as well.
Encourage the children in their play, help pick up/organize and keep the exhibit areas clean.
Cell phone use is prohibited by staff/volunteers while on the floor.
Have fun!
