Leasons Learned From Recent disasters In QLD
 Be Prepared
KNOWING a disaster is about to happen at your Self Storage site is not great news.

Some sites in the recent floods were caught out, loosing valuable records and technology.

We are all told every month to back up data. Do we do it and do we take it off site?

There is little point backing up data if its floating around in the office with all the other stuff that's turned to pulp.

In discussions with a few sites who were severely damaged, communication was the point most stressed.

Tools you use like software should be able to get messages out fast to all storers.

Paper agreements should be copied and stored off site. You will never know how important that is until you don't have them....

If you think that an event like a flood or storm might affect your site, then telling your storers might be prudent.

New Bosch DVR Released
600 Series DVR Price Breakthrough
BOSCH are a leader in CCTV Technology and this month they have released their new 600 range of DVR's.

These suit Self Storage use very well. They are available in 8 and 16 channel configurations and with and without DVD burning capability.

All models record in the new MPEG4 codec and have H.264 compression meaning that images take up less space. Each model is available with up to 2TB of onboard storage, more than enough for any site.

Prices start at under $2,000.00.

A full range of cameras compliment the new 600 Range including Bosch's new number plate camera, capable of capturing number plates at up to 160 KMH. That should cover most sites!

Good quality does not have to be expensive. If you are interested in the new 600 range of Bosch DVR'S, let us know at sales@centreforceit.com.au

Why PCI-DSS Credit Card Certification is important
PCI SiteLink IS Compliant

Why should you, as a Self Storage Operator, comply with the PCI Security Standards?

At first glance, especially if you are a smaller organization, it may seem like a lot of effort, and confusing to boot.

But not only is compliance becoming increasingly important, it may not be the headache you expected.

Compliance with data security standards can bring major benefits to businesses of all sizes, while failure to comply can have serious and long-term negative consequences. Here are some reasons why.

  • Compliance with the PCI DSS means that your systems are secure, and customers can trust you with their sensitive payment card information:
    • Trust means your customers have confidence in doing business with you
    • Confident customers are more likely to be repeat customers, and to recommend you to others
  • Compliance improves your reputation with acquirers and payment brands  the partners you need in order to do business like ADVAM.
  • Compliance is an ongoing process, not a one-time event. It helps prevent security breaches and theft of payment card data, not just today, but in the future:
    • As data compromise becomes ever more sophisticated, it becomes ever more difficult for an individual merchant to stay ahead of the threats
    • The PCI Security Standards Council is constantly working to monitor threats and improve the industry's means of dealing with them, through enhancements to PCI Security Standards and by the training of security professionals
    • When you stay compliant, you are part of the solution - a united, global response to fighting payment card data compromise
  • Compliance has indirect benefits as well:
    • Through your efforts to comply with PCI Security Standards, you'll likely be better prepared to comply with other regulations as they come along, such as HIPAA, SOX, etc.
    • You'll have a basis for a corporate security strategy
    • You will likely identify ways to improve the efficiency of your IT infrastructure
  • If you are not compliant, it could be disastrous:
    • Compromised data negatively affects consumers, merchants, and financial institutions
    • Just one incident can severely damage your reputation and your ability to conduct business effectively, far into the future
    • Account data breaches can lead to catastrophic loss of sales, relationships and standing in your community, and depressed share price if yours is a public company
    • Possible negative consequences also include:
      • Lawsuits
      • Insurance claims
      • Cancelled accounts
      • Payment card issuer fines
      • Government fines

SiteLink Web Edition is PCI-DSS compliant. It's a feature that can be turned on in Company Setup. SiteLink is the only Software that IS COMPLIANT sold currently in Australia. For more information Click Here
