Greetings!

Manufacturing really Matters! This is the theme of our conference this year on May 9th at the Frontier Airlines Center in Milwaukee.  We've spent the past year talking to manufacturers across the state and have built a program based on their feedback.

As a result, the conference will feature two channels, one for executives and one for operations staff; and both will include tracks on Talent Management/ Workforce Development -- the most pressing issue facing Wisconsin manufacturers.

To learn more about what we're offering related to talent management, innovation, e-business and our new tracks on Food & Feed, regulatory/legal and capital/finance, visit: www.manufacturingmatters.org
Where are the workers?
Tim Sullivan
Manufacturing Matters! Keynote Tim Sullivan
That was a question faced by Bucyrus International Inc., more than a decade ago. To meet its own labor needs, Bucyrus explored many options including starting an apprenticeship program. Fast forward to 2010, Bucyrus (now owned by Caterpillar, Inc.) was named as one of the fastest growing U.S. companies according to Forbes.

Finding talented workers remains one of the most pressing issues facing manufacturers today. At the Manufacturing Matters! conference, Tim Sullivan, former president and CEO of Bucyrus and now special consultant for business and workforce development for the state of Wisconsin, will share his insight into the skills gap, how to engage employees and specific programs that address the talent issue.

to the unprecedented demands for emergency power in the wake of Hurricane Irene and the unanticipated autumn snowstorm in the Northeast. Generac's consistent success has allowed the company to reinvest not only in their company, but also in the state of Wisconsin.

Aaron Jagdfeld, president & CEO of Generac will share his insights on facing the challenges of building a rapidly growing company at the Manufacturing Matters! conference on May 9 at the Frontier Airlines Center in Milwaukee.

Wisconsin is Exporting!
wiandglobe2 In 2011, Wisconsin recorded over $22.0 billion in exports, an increase of 11.4% from the previous year. The state also ranks 18th in the country in export value. Over the next decade, markets in Asia, Canada, Mexico and South America are projected to outpace domestic growth.

Where do you stand among these figures?

In this new economic landscape, a global strategy for growth is no longer a question of 'when', but is more a question of 'how'.
