Are you a Leader or a Laggard?

Buckley Brinkman
Blog by Buckley Brinkman, WMEP Executive Director

We are living in times that separate the Leaders from the Laggards. Volatility and uncertainty have become ingrained in the new normal. Change continues to accelerate and affect all parts of the economy. All of this volatility, uncertainty, and change creates opportunities for Leaders ready to embrace the disciplines of Next Generation Manufacturing. The latest entry on the WMEP blog discusses how volatility, uncertainty, and accelerating change are all part of the new normal. These forces are creating opportunities throughout the enterprise in companies willing and able to anticipate and adjust to meet new demands.

Manufacturing Leaders are embracing these conditions and making a huge difference for their organizations by setting a steady course. That steady course involves a solid focus on fundamentals critical to compete in this new economy. The six elements of Next Generation Manufacturing form the cornerstone of these fundamentals. Expertise in these elements is critical to being a successful manufacturer in these new times. Leaders consistently push positive limits in each of these areas, while Laggards continue to tread water, waiting for markets to return to their past positions.
