Lanair Drives Growth
In October of 2009 when Barry Brandt purchased the family-owned and operated Lanair Products, LLC of Janesville, he knew he had a winner.
Along with creating a new leadership team, Brandt realized he needed to develop a business plan for the company, so he tapped the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WMEP) for assistance. According to the latest Institute for Supply Chain Management - Chicago Barometer Report, economic activity expanded for the eighteenth consecutive month. In addition a summary of business activity showed: - Prices Paid resumed its upward trend
- Order Backlogs reached its highest point since February 1974
- Employment grew to its second-highest level since February 1973
One contributor stated: "The orders keep coming as do the requests for quotes."

Demand for Skilled Workers Rises as Manufacturing Rebounds
Jobs are being filled, but many skilled positions remain openManufacturing continues to lead the economic recovery in Wisconsin and across the nation and led private sector job gains in March. According to DWD Secretary Perez in this month's release of WI jobs data, "For the third month in a row, we are seeing solid job growth, with preliminary numbers showing 9,800 more jobs in the private sector overall and 2,800 in manufacturing for the month of March." These figures indicate that manufacturing is roaring back, but although 2,800 manufacturing workers were hired in March, it's clear that many job openings are going unfilled. Read more
