ATLANTA WOOD BAT INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUE (AWBIL)  & 2ND ANNUAL HBCU BASEBALL ALL STAR REVUE HONORS LARRY WATKINS

Hello Baseball Fans,

Please be advised that the Atlanta Wood Bat Instructional  League (AWBIL) and the 2ND Annual HBCU Baseball All Star Revue will honor former Alabama State University Baseball coach Larry Watkins for professional services rendered to ASU, Southwestern Athletic Association, and largely for the development and mentoring provided to young men for over 30 years. Coach Watkins will be honored during the game on  June 25, 2011 at Mundys Mill High School located 9652 Fayetteville Road-Jonesboro Georgia 30238.

Last year's game was the inaugural event comprised of players with no remaining collegiate eligibility. The charter members/players of the 2010 ALL STAR INVITATIONAL resided near the Atlanta metropolitan area or neighboring states, representing the CIAA, MEAC, SEAC, SIAC, SWAC. With the players  mere love for the game, the concept of a HBCU ALL STAR BASEBALL GAME was turned into a reality, and those players were part of HBCU baseball history.

AWBIL's mission is mentoring inner city athletes that desire to earn a college education and play collegiate baseball. In furtherance, AWBIL serves as a learning center for aspiring interns seeking practical experience as well as on the job training in the arena of sports administration, sports marketing, sports journalism and sports audio and radio broadcast.

The ATLANTA WOOD BAT NETWORK will broadcast the game live and host interviews of players, coaches, and fans with the intent to showcase the baseball talent at HBCU'S.

Alabama State University Interim  Head Baseball coach Tony Macon will serve as a volunteer for the event. Last year coach Macon was instrumental with the assistance of procuring players and coached the west team.

AWBIL and the 2ND Annual HBCU Baseball All Star Revue awards Coach Larry Watkins for being a cornerstone to HBCU baseball and his humanitarian services to Alabama State University. With this being said, AWBIL encourages all baseball fans to attend the game in support of a good cause.
