Last year's game was the inaugural event comprised of players with no remaining collegiate eligibility. The charter members/players of the 2010 ALL STAR INVITATIONAL resided near the Atlanta metropolitan area or neighboring states, representing the CIAA, MEAC, SEAC, SIAC, SWAC. With the players  mere love for the game, the concept of a HBCU ALL STAR BASEBALL GAME was turned into a reality, and those players were part of HBCU baseball history.

In furtherance, AWBIL serves as a learning center for aspiring interns seeking practical experience as well as on the job training in the arena of sports administration, sports marketing, sports journalism and sports audio and radio broadcast.
