How to Buy a Home Elevator

Cemco Home Elevator

A residential elevator is not a washing machine. Often times homeowners decide on one as if it was a standard household appliance. Like a washer, they wish to purchase a home elevator manufactured by an established company with a typical one-year warranty. They tend to focus primarily on cost, figuring that "they are all kind of the same" and perhaps with the thought that if the elevator survives the first year under warranty, they have a good product.

The Worth of a Hillside Lift

Accumar Cable Lift

A hillside lift is quite an investment. There is no other way to say it. The final amount will depend on the landscape, travel distance, and the brand of the lift. In addition to the purchase of the equipment and installation services, you may find yourself dealing with city codes and permits; soil samples; extra landscaping; pier supports; and various other forms of cement work. To top it off, you may have to get permission from your neighbors.

Trivia
Car top Hatch

Elevator hatches are generally bolted shut for safety reasons. In times of elevator crisis, the safest place is inside the elevator.

Some OTIS History...

In 1853, a man named Elisha Graves Otis bravely cut the hoisting rope on a suspended
platform high above the crowds at the New York World's Fair, and when the platform firmly held in place, the first safe elevator was born. Since that time, the Otis brand has become a household name steeped in a rich tradition that has made the Otis brand elevator the finest in the world!

Today, that heritage lives on in fine homes everywhere in the name of Otis at Home, the residential arm of Otis Elevator. One look at the Otis at Home residential elevator and you can't help but notice the abundance of commercial standards that can't be found in other residential elevator products. Like the 12 gauge steel floor plan combined with the 1 ¼" hardwood plywood floor base coupled with a robust steel sling that gives the Otis brand a sturdy, commercial ride quality and feel that homeowners appreciate. Add an expertly engineered and crafted lifting system and car, and you'll experience the quiet, smooth ride quality discerning homeowners expect in an Otis product.

When it comes to safety, there is no compromise. For over 150 years, Otis has been setting the standards for the elevator industry. We build the most reliable residential elevator on the market, because we also know how important it is to take good care of families like yours. So, it's no wonder that the Otis brand residential elevator is often
selected over other brands in new and remodeling construction projects. It's a name you've trusted for over a century!

Competitively priced, you'll discover why homes of distinction insist on having the Otis brand label proudly displayed in their new home elevator.
