Patient Testimonials

I came in like a sore, creaky woman with a very painful back. I leave almost pain free, much stronger core muscles, more mobility and I walk right again. These guys are great!
-Kathleen A.

I was impressed with my therapy program and the emphasis placed on improving my balance and learning to correct the problems. My therapist, Janey Creps, was outstanding and caring at all times.
-John M.

SSTM and its staff constitute an excellent center for healing. The new Novato location is clean, bright, well-equipped and welcoming. The staff is warm, friendly and caring. Most importantly, they are well trained and excellent at communicating their knowledge to patients. I will miss my visits! -Joan C.

SSTM is a great facility with a really good staff to help assist with recovery. Christie Bennett is an excellent PT. She was especially helpful putting together an exercise regimen to aid my recovery. I highly recommend SSTM.
-Steve S.

I'm so happy with the progress I've made working with Kristina. She's super knowledgeable, kind and encouraging. I loved coming to PT and she helped me recover very fast so I can get back to all my mom duties. Thank you so much!
-Julie E.

I felt extremely confident of Ole's ability to thoroughly evaluate my spinal problems and set up a plan for therapy. Ole listened to me in a compas-sionate way and was competent and professional as were Gina and Jackie. Thank you!
-Ken F.

Dear ,

Summer is here, the sun is shining and all is right with the world -- that is unless you aren't exercising. A recent study (read below) showed that even two hours of exercise a week (but I hope you are getting a lot more than that!) will reduce your risk of back, neck and shoulder pain in the years to come.

With longer days, warmer weather and the abundant produce of summer, now is a great time to get in shape and get your body in gear. If pain is holding you back, please give us a call so we can help get you on track. We can give you a brief consultation to determine the problem, provide corrective treatment (with your doctor's referral) and/or get you set up on an exercise regime personalized for your individual needs.

We'll help you get out there and enjoy the summer!

In health and wellness,

Lack of Exercise + Excessive Weight = Pain

People who exercise more than one hour per week have a lower risk of troublesome back, neck, and shoulder pain, says a Reuters Health article based on a study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology.

Researchers followed more than 30,000 adults, recording their body mass index (BMI) and how often they exercised at the start of the study and tracked them over 11 years.

Overall, 1 of every 10 people in the study developed lower back pain, and nearly 2 of every 10 developed shoulder or neck pain. After taking into account participants' age, BMI, whether or not they smoked, and whether they did manual labor at work, the research team found that men who were exercising 2 hours or more per week at the start of the study were 25% less likely to have lower back pain 11 years later, and 20% less likely to have neck or shoulder pain, compared with men who didn't exercise at all. Women who exercised at least 2 hours per week were 8% less likely to develop lower back pain than women who were inactive, and 9% less likely to develop neck and shoulder pain.

Weight also affected the risk of chronic pain later on, says the article. Men who were obese were almost 21% more likely to develop chronic lower back pain than men of normal weight, and 22% more likely to develop neck or shoulder pain. Women classified as obese were 21% more likely to develop lower back pain than women of normal weight, and 19% more likely to develop neck and shoulder pain.

The good news? Even small amounts of exercise can result in a lower risk of back, neck and shoulder pain.
