Employee Feature
Nicole Nielsen,
Billing Coordinator
A native Californian and Petaluma resident, Nicole has been with us for almost 5 years. Her job is helping patients with their billing questions and keeping our accounts current.
You don't often see Nicole's smiling face, because she works in the billing office in the back. (She's very happy about her new office, with all of the natural light!)
When she's not at work, you'll generally find Nicole at the movies or out at the beach -- two of her favorite places.
If you happen to see her within the next week, wish her a Happy Easter Birthday!

Patient Testimonials
Just wanted to let you know what wonderful and helpful treatment I received at SSTM. From the first to the last visit, I was treated wonderfully. The progress I made was extensive. I had doubts I would ever progress to where I was prior to my injury, but...my improvements have exceeded my expectations. I feel human again and am back to enjoying the simple things I took for granted. Thank you to everyone!
-- Karen D.
The team at SSTM was a joy to work with! Over a period of just a few weeks I went from constant pain to movement and freedom. The entire team, but especially Cristie, made sure I was focused on the right strengthening and stretching program as well as a long term plan for continued health. Excellent work. Excellent experience.
--Andrew D.
The people were great -- knowledgeable and personable. I will continue as an independent gym user."
-- Connie M.
I would highly recommend PT at SSTM. The staff was very friendly and positive as well as being efficient and knowledgeable. I look forward to each visit!! I will definitely pop in on occasion to revise exercises. -- Carlotta M.

Lace Up Those Shoes: Running May Be Beneficial for Your Knees
According to recent studies, running, long thought to be bad for your knees, may actually be beneficial.
In one study, Swedish researchers took one group of people at risk of osteoarthritis and had them engage in exercise, including jogging. The other group didn't exercise. After imaging the joints of the participants in both study groups, they found that the biochemistry of cartilage actually appeared to improve in those participants who were running.
Another study looked at the impact of running and whether it caused degradation of the knee and the onset of osteoarthritis. What it found was quite the contrary. The study, in fact, suggested that, " 'running is healthy for the joint.' There are caveats, however. If you have suffered a knee injury, especially one that required surgery, running can actually increase your risk of knee arthritis. So can running if you are more than 20 pounds overweight. The good news is that if you are currently a runner, or want to start running (and don't fall into the categories above), it seems you'll be able to keep running for a long time to come. To read the complete article click here. To view some of the research from the studies, click here.
