Kate Willett, formerly of the Regulatory Testing Division of PETA, has moved to the Animal Research Issues Department of the Humane Society of the United States. Dr. Willett will serve as Director, Regulatory Toxicology, Risk Assessment and Alternatives.  In her new capacity, she will take over coordination of the Human Toxicology Project Consortium (HTPC). A geneticist and developmental biologist by training, at PETA Kate became involved in advocating for the reduction of animal use in regulatory programs at the EPA, FDA and internationally at OECD.  She has also worked with companies and private foundations to develop methods to replace animals in testing.  The HTPC functions to facilitate communication and coordination between government agencies, research departments, the chemical industry and methods developers who are working to develop and incorporate more reliable and predictive approaches for chemical assessment.
