Meet Tracey Houchins, CMVE Administrative Assistant!

Tracey Houchins
Tracey Houchins

What did you do before you came to TCC? What is your background in education and the military?

I was a Navy spouse for 15 years and have lived and breathed the military lifestyle. I enjoyed the adventure it provided while enduring the moves and deployments. I have B.A. in Journalism from Temple University in Philadelphia and I am currently a graduate student at ODU pursuing my M.S.Ed with teacher licensure.

Prior to working for TCC, I worked at ODU at Naval Station Norfolk for four years as the Assistant to the Director. My job was to support the administrative needs of the office as well as provide customer service and general counseling to our active duty Navy and Marine personnel. As a former Navy spouse, I understood the unique needs of my students and felt the highest level of responsibility to provide them the guidance they required in order to pursue higher education.

What do you do on a daily basis for CMVE?

I work directly for Dr. Brunson, the Executive Director, as well as support the other three Directors. I also manage the office and provide assistance as needed to the entire CMVE staff. On a daily basis, I am responding to emails, coordinating meetings and calendars, helping plan travel, ordering supplies, editing correspondence and marketing materials, etc. It is my job to keep the CMVE running smoothly and efficiently.

What do you like most about your job?

I really enjoy the challenge of running a busy office. It requires the ability to multi-task and prioritize, skills at which I feel I am adept. I also love working with people and although I no longer work with students, I derive much satisfaction from accommodating and supporting my colleagues in any way I can.

New Process to Request Transcripts

TCC has contracted with Docufide by Parchment, a company that specializes in transcript processing in order to deliver student transcripts in a more efficient and timely manner.

Effective immediately, students will be able to request a paper or electronic copy of their official transcript directly from Docufide by Parchment at a cost of $3.00 (electronic) or $5.00 (paper). Overnight delivery will also be an option for most students who have an emergency. The fee for overnight delivery service will be determined by Docufide by Parchment based on delivery location.
The costs of the first two copies requested by each current and former student will be paid for by the college. Students may also make a request of their official transcript in paper form in person at any campus Enrollment Services office for a $5.00 fee made payable at the campus Business office. Note that it may take the campus Enrollment Services office up to two business days to process requests of this nature. Therefore, for convenience and expedience, students in need of an official transcript can request their transcript through the web at http://www.tcc.edu/students/admissions/transcripts/.
