The Varsity Boys basketball team competed in the Providence Tournament hosted by Providence High School in Burbank, December 2, 3 & 4.  Different teams from CIF Southern Section like, St. Genevieve H.S., San Marino H.S., as well as, Providence H.S. and our rival Armenian school, Holy Martyrs Armenian School, all competed in the tournament.

Varsity Boys faced Oakwood on Thursday beating them 58-38. On Friday, they faced Holy Martyrs at the Semi-Final Game, also beating them 38-31.

For the 3rd year in a row, the Varsity Boys reached the championship game. The championship game was played Saturday 7:30 p.m. against the host of the tournament, Providence Pioneers. After a hard battle and a close comeback from the Pioneers, our boys pulled a great win and once again earned the title "champions" of the tournament. The final score was 60-57.

As the final buzzer sounded, all of the Pilibos supporters crowded the court with joy.  The night ended with the presentation of the tournament championship plaque to Coach Sako and the team.  Senior guard, Galust Yesayan, received the Most Valuable Player award.

Pilibos parents, students and fans were all supportive throughout the 3-day tournament. Their continuous support certainly gave our boys motivation to play hard and win.

Congratulations Varsity Boys and Coach Sako on this great accomplishment in this tournament!
