| No Parking for Students |
A gentle reminder that the parking lots adjacent to the church are reserved for faculty, staff, and parent parking. Students are not allowed to park there, and will be towed if they do. Also, parents please encourage your children to arrive at school on time. Tardiness due to traffic or parking problems will not be excused. This can be a problem especially on Wednesdays, street cleaning days.

No Bullying | On September
2, 2010 we welcomed Diane Schwartz from LAUSD's Title IV program to
introduce and train our teachers on the "Second Step" violence/bullying
prevention curriculum. These are critical issues amongst all students in
every grade across the nation, and we hope to address them in our school
through informative and engaging activities, lessons, and discussions.
Our teachers will implement this program in grades K-8th,
with the ultimate goal as being more vigilant, raise awareness and
provide knowledge to our students in regards to bullying, violence,
anger management, empathy and respect.

WASC Accreditation
This year our school will be participating in the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation process. This process helps to ensure that our school continues to provide a high-quality academic program to all of our students. It also certifies to other educational institutions and to the general public that we meet or exceed state standards and our own stated objectives. The accreditation committee will visit our school at the end of March. Students, faculty, and parents will need to work together to facilitate the process. We look forward to coming together as a Pilibos family to ensure we receive the maximum six year accreditation term, as we have in the years past. |
Counseling Office Along with many other changes, this year there is
one major change that we will all notice with the counseling office, and
that is its location. The counseling office has moved to Room 500 in
the Pilibos Building. In this larger
and more convenient location, the counseling office will be available
for students and parents to visit from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with all
their questions and concerns (appointment recommended). The counseling office is our school's primary resource for information in regards to testing, colleges, and
financial aid. Both Maral Babian and Maral Tavitian are there to
assist and guide parents and students in the academic, career and socio-emotional domains.

PTO Our Parent Teacher Organization is an integral part of our school. We continuously rely on their efforts and support to ensure a productive school year.
With Vartouhi Tavoukjian as the new chairlady to the PTO, they will continue to be an active presence in our school, organizing various fund raising events, book fairs, and bake sales.
All parents are encouraged to donate their time and efforts to the PTO in various projects throughout the school year. You do not need to be a member of the PTO to volunteer. So please inquire within to see how you may contribute to the PTO.
Please visit www.pilibos.org soon to view their agenda for the 2010-2011 school year.
