Used Uniforms

We are happy so many of you continue to drop off used uniform items that can be used by other SHS students.  Please note, however, we no longer need polo shirts - neither green nor white.    As a reminder, anyone can purchase used pieces during the school day.  The cost is $5.00 per item and you simply need to check in with Kerry to gain access to the uniform closet to check for items you would like to purchase.

Lost and Found

Please take a moment right away to mark your students' name on their items - on the OUTSIDE of their lunch boxes, on tags in their clothing and especially on their Sacred Heart Sweatshirts.  Mark your child's name on either the neck tag (small, we know) or on the wash instructions/name tag located inside on the bottom left hand side of the sweatshirts.  Items legibly marked with names will be returned to the students' classrooms.  Unmarked SHS sweatshirts/items will go into the used uniform closet and non-uniform items will reside in our lost and found closet located in the gym foyer until it gets full.  Once the closet is full, we will remind you to check for your family's items and then donate the remaining to a wonderful organization which services refugee families in the Tukwila school district.

Safe Environment Training - Very Important Information

All employees and volunteers who work with children are required to attend the Safe Environment - Called to Protect  training. Classes are offered throughout the year at a variety of locations around the archdiocese. After the initial in-person training, volunteers and employees are required to keep up to date with annual online classes.

We are in the process of updating our Safe Environment records and moving them into a digital format (from paper). We need your help to accomplish this. If you have taken any Safe Environment training:

  1. Please go to: http://seattle.setanet.org/obligations.php
  2. Log-in using your first and last name and your street address (note: do not include your city, state or zip code).
  3. After logging-in, click on "Print Verification" on the right hand side under the green stripe. This will provide you with a complete list of the training you have received.
  4. Please either print this out and send it in to the school office or e-mail the page to safeenvironment@sacredheart.org by Monday, September 24th.

In this way we can ensure that all of our children are safe and our school remains in compliance with the bishops' mandate. Also, if verification shows that you need to complete an online training for this year, please do so as soon as possible and then send us a new verification when you have completed it.

Finally, if you do not volunteer with children, but would like to learn more about protecting our children from possible predators, you may want to attend the,  "Called to Protect for Parents and Families". It is being offered at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen on September 19th at 6:30 p.m. (Note: This class does not fulfill the training requirement for volunteers who work with children.) - Mr. Burroughs

Power School

Letters were sent home to all new families in grades 1st - 8th, as well as new students in 4th - 8th with their Power School codes.  If any of our returning families or students need their Power School codes to be reset, please e-mail Nancy Schoeggl.  - Ms. Gray

Eucharistic Ministers Needed for School Masses

Are you a Eucharistic Minister or always wanted to be?  We'd love to have you help serve at school masses.  You don't need to commit to every mass, just those that you're able to attend and would like to help.  It's truly a blessing to be able to bring Jesus to the children as a Eucharistic Minister!  If you are interested please contact Deanna Sanford.

From the Heart is published weekly during the school year on Thursdays.  If you have content to include in future newsletters please obtain administration permission, and then send to Tracy Takeuchi, by Tuesday night.

Mission Statement: Sacred Heart School is a Catholic community which provides an excellent academic education in an environment of faith and virtue for families of Sacred Heart Parish and the surrounding community.
