The Health Room Needs Your Help to Care for Your Children!

Please take a few moments to read the attached information from the health room regarding immunizations. Then plan some time this summer to take care of updating your child's immunization records and/or receive any needed shots.

Summer Skills Program Requirements for Students Entering Grades 1-8

MATH:  Students are required to complete the Summer Math Skills book for the grade they have just finished as a review of what they have learned this year.  Completed books are due on the first day of school.  The books will be graded and part of your child's first trimester grade.  The only exemption is if your child is enrolled in another Math program over the summer and we receive a certificate of completion.  If you have not yet purchased one, you will need to order directly from Tri-C Publications.   We do have five 7th grade books at the main school office.

READING:  Please click here for details on requirements and reading packets for each grade.

Lost and Found

Our closet is incredibly full (again) of unmarked clothing - most of it lost during Spirit Week.    Please remember to check it before school is out on June 15th as all items remaining on that day will be donated right away.

2012-2013 Tuition Information

SHS has two payment options for Tuition:  Payment in full or payment in monthly installments.  Payment in full is due on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 (first day of school.)  Our monthly payment option is through a service called FACTS.  For more details please click here.

Uniform Program Changes for 2012-13 School Year

Please click here for a special welcome and overview from Lands' End with more details. Here is the link to the SHS specific webshop on the Lands' End site.

Remember to enter our school number 900085846 to make shopping easier.

Dennis Uniforms still has some SHS sweatshirts left in stock and will continue to be an accepted provider of key uniform items such as khaki skirts and plaids, but we will be transitioning to Lands' End as the exclusive provider of the required SHS Sweatshirt as well as all of the SHS required uniform pieces.

Summer Reading for Adults

With the help of Kari Boyd, our new school counselor, we have selected two terrific books for our adult summer reading program. The first, for grades pre-k through 3rd is Daniel Siegel's "The Whole Brain Child." For grades 4-8, we have chosen Peg Dawson and Richard Guare's "Smart but Scattered." All of our staff members will be reading at least one of these books. We are encouraging all of our parents to do the same. In the fall, the staff will be discussing our insights from these books during in-service time. We also plan to hold some parent-staff social gatherings in September to discuss these books and how they can help us to understand and work effectively with all of our students and children. - Mr. Burroughs

Annual Fund

Thank you to everyone who has turned in their donations for the Annual Fund! There are still over 65 families that need to get their payments in so don't delay, payments are due by June 30th, 2012 to count for the 2011-12 school year. We have collected $188,042 of the $220,000 pledged so we still have a ways to go and the year is winding down rapidly! These funds are very important to our operating budget so please make sure you turn in your pledged amount. Balance due statements were emailed out on Wednesday of this week, if you did not received the email, please contact Alison Scott in the Development Office so she can make sure you get the information.

Fundraising for 2011-12

Statements were issued last Monday via email. Thank you to everyone who met or surpassed the fundraising requirement! Many have already followed up on their fundraising status. For those of you that are still short there are two ways to get to your $225 contribution requirement. You can either order scrip at a 5% contribution rate or you can make a donation to the Jogathon at an 80% contribution rate. Scrip will be sold in the parking lot after school on Thursday or you can turn in an order form at the front office. Jogathon checks can be dropped off at the front office. Please make checks payable to Sacred Heart School. We will be reviewing the status of each family's fundraising contribution, once school is out. Anyone who is still short of the $225 requirement will be contacted directly. If you have any questions, please contact Alison Scott in the Development Office.

SUMMER CAMPS AT SHS JUNE 18 thru 22

Safari to Kenya with Ms. Maloney 9-11:30 June 18-June 22

(For students current in 1st-3rd - 20 Students MAX)

We only have a couple of spots left!!  "As photographers on a safari to Kenya with Ms. Maloney, students learn about two regions in Kenya by exploring the topography and animals that are found in game reserves. After re-creating the Maasai Mara Game Reserve and a Maasai village, the photographers find themselves in the center of a cultural misunderstanding. After discussing how to resolve the issue, students hold a farewell party to celebrate and reflect on their learning about Maasai culture and the Maasai Mara reserve.  To demonstrate their learning as they proceed through the unit, students will consider settings and characters and then role play and make critical decisions. Students use portfolios to read, write, research, and complete other activities."  $125 per student for the week.

If interested, please send an email to Ms. Gray.

Summer Art with Ms. Wood 9-11:30 June 18-June 22
