Uniform Program Changes
As previously communicated, Sacred Heart is excited to announce that Lands' End will be the preferred provider for SHS uniforms for the upcoming school year. Highlights of the change to from Dennis Uniforms to Lands' End include; SHS Sweatshirts with our logo will be available at Lands' End, high quality products backed by their Guaranteed Period return policy, optional embroidery of last names on sweatshirts (saving many parents an extra step) and lastly the SHS Lands' End web shop has been updated to have a more expansive assortment and alignment to the SHS Dress Code Policy.
Please click here for a special welcome and overview from Lands' End with more details. Here is the link to the SHS specific webshop on the Lands' End site. Please remember to enter our school number 900085846 to make shopping easier.
Dennis Uniforms still has some SHS sweatshirts left in stock and will continue to be an accepted provider of key uniform items such as khaki skirts and plaids, but we will be transitioning to Lands' End as the exclusive provider of the required SHS Sweatshirt as well as all of the SHS required uniform pieces.
2012-2013 Tuition Information
SHS has two payment options for Tuition: Payment in full or payment in monthly installments. Payment in full is due on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 (first day of school.) Our monthly payment option is through a service called FACTS.
If you are a RETURNING family that used FACTS this current school year for automated payment withdrawals, your account with FACTS will automatically roll forward for 2012-2013. The amount withdrawn will automatically be adjusted to reflect the new monthly tuition amount for 2012-2013. Note that receiving monthly invoices will no longer be an option. All monthly payments will be automatic withdrawals.
If you are a NEW family or a family changing to FACTS monthly payments, please know that an email will be coming to you directly from FACTS in the next couple of weeks asking you to set up your account up for 2012-2013 school year. You will need to provide the checking or savings account you would like FACTS to use to withdraw funds monthly.
If you have any questions about this, please feel free to e-mail Susana Knapp or call 425-451-1773 ext 156.
Absent School Days
If you know that your student will be missing any school days next week, please email Mrs. Wyman.
Extra 15 Minutes
After careful consideration of the survey results and feedback and another review of our instructional schedules, we have decided to put off adding 15 minutes to the day, at least until the following year. Beginning this month, and continuing throughout the summer, we are carefully reworking all of our schedules in order to more efficiently make use of the instructional time that we have already. If after that process is complete we still see the need for additional time in the day, then we will add time to schedule in the 2013-2014 school year. - Mr. Burroughs

Last Day of School
I apologize for the time change on the last day of school. Traditionally, we have ended school on our last day at 10:30 a.m. The last few weeks the dismissal time has been mistakenly listed at 11:45, as that is our usual half-day dismissal time.
The last day of school will be filled with great events. All families are encouraged to attend. We will inaugurate our new student council, we will celebrate our final school Mass of the year, and Fr. Pat will lead us all in signing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" one last time. We will also be inaugurating a new process of having our 7th Grade students symbolically "step up" to their new leadership role in the school. Finally, as a school, we will say our good-bye to our pastor, Fr. Pat. So, if you are available, it's a morning not to miss. - Mr. Burroughs
Yearbooks
Yearbooks as scheduled to arrive the last week of school. We will notify everyone about the pick-up procedures as soon as they are on site.

Lost and Found
Our closet is incredibly full (again) of unmarked clothing - most of it lost during Spirit Week. Please remember to check it before school is out on June 15th as all items remaining on that day will be donated right away.
Pokemon Cards
Pokemon Cards have once again become popular among many of our students; unfortunately, they are also becoming a distraction as students are pulling out their cards during class time. With that in mind, I am going to ask that everyone keep their Pokemon Cards home for the remainder of the school year. Thank you for your assistance. - Ms. Gray
Staff Updates
As we shared in a recent addition of the FTH, we will be losing several of our instructional aides at the end of this school year. After interviewing a number of wonderful applicants, we have hired new people for each of these positions.
- Sharon Reding, a current Sacred Heart parent, has accepted the position of first grade instructional aide. Sharon's long history of volunteer work both here and at Sacred Heart Parish make her an excellent addition to the first grade team.
- Kate Suhrbier, Sacred Heart alumni will be taking on the position of second grade instructional aide. Since graduating from Sacred Heart, Kate has pursued a degree in Education and Family and Human Services while also volunteering her time to work with children and toddlers who have speech, cognitive and motor delays, as well as parents in child development and behavior management techniques.
- Katie Nelson will be joining the fifth grade team as their instructional aide. Katie is the parent of three children in the primary grades at Sacred Heart. Katie is also a former 6th and 7th grade teacher; she taught humanities at St. Monica's School with her key area of focus being writing proficiency.
We are excited to welcome each of these people to the Sacred Heart School community.
- Ms. Gray
Summer Skills Math Program
We are now out of the kindergarten, first, second, third and fourth grade Summer Math Skills Books; if you have not yet purchased one, you will need to order it directly from Tri-C Publications. Summer Reading for Adults
With the help of Kari Boyd, our new school counselor, we have selected two terrific books for our adult summer reading program. The first, for grades pre-k through 3rd is Daniel Siegel's "The Whole Brain Child." For grades 4-8, we have chosen Peg Dawson and Richard Guare's "Smart but Scattered." All of our staff members will be reading at least one of these books. We are encouraging all of our parents to do the same. In the fall, the staff will be discussing our insights from these books during in-service time. We also plan to hold some parent-staff social gatherings in September to discuss these books and how they can help us to understand and work effectively with all of our students and children. - Mr. Burroughs
