Buddy Families NEEDED

The SHS Buddy Family program is an essential program for new families.  We have around 40 *NEW* families enrolling in Sacred Heart next fall and we need "experienced" families who can be a supportive resource and help navigate a new family through their first year.  We ask that a Buddy Family forward e-mails about upcoming events, answer basic questions about polices and connect them with other families in our community.

Pre-K thru 8th grade new families need your help!

If you have any questions or are ready to sign up - please contact our

2012-2013 Buddy Family Coordinator Debbie Smith and she will be happy work with you!

Results of Two Recent Surveys

I want to thank everyone who participated in the recent "extra minutes survey".  221 parents and staff participated in the survey! We are reading through all of the comments and considering our course of action for next year. We will let you know the results and our decision within in the next two weeks.

Also, I recently sent a survey to the local Catholic high schools that our graduates attend and asked them to provide feedback about the preparation and performance of our graduates during their freshman year. We limited the survey this year to Catholic high schools because of their relatively small size compared to the public schools and the comparative ease of getting these surveys to the teachers who have SHS graduates in their classes. In total, we received 19 responses from Eastside Catholic, O'Dea, Holy Names Academy, and Seattle Prep. The results of this survey were very encouraging and helpful in our evaluation and improvement of our middle school curriculum. A summary of the survey results can be found here. The specific areas for improvement that were identified are already being addressed this year or will be next year.(Comments were edited when individual students might be able to be identified.)

- Mr. Burroughs

Contributing Parishioner Tuition Rate

Please remember that in order to receive the Contributing Parishioner Tuition rate families are required to:

  • Be registered members of Sacred Heart Parish who are regularly attending Mass
  • Have a Parish Pledge Card on file annually (parish pledge cards are renewed for each calendar year)
  • Make regular contributions to the parish in fulfillment of your annual Parish Pledge

Families who do not consistently meet these obligations will be moved the higher Non-Contributing Parishioner Tuition rate. As you reregister for next year, please check to make sure that you have a pledge card on file at the parish and are making regular contributions.  - Mr. Burroughs

Annual Fund Update

Everyone should be receiving an annual fund notification this week. If you have a balance due, then you will have received notification of the amount due. If you have fulfilled your pledge, then you will be receiving a confirmation of the donation, please keep this for your tax records. We are behind a bit this year on our pledges received. Currently we have received $174,091 of the $220,400 pledged. There are still over 100 families that still need to fulfill their pledges so please make sure that you get your payment in soon. Payments are due by June 30, 2012. Thank you to all who have already paid their pledges and if your company has a matching program, please be sure to submit the proper documentation as soon as possible. If you have questions, please contact Alison Scott in the Development Office.

Final Auction & Family Night Receipts

Thank you again to everyone for making our auction such a success this year! Final receipts are in the process of being mailed out. Please keep these documents for tax purposes.

If you have any questions, please contact Alison Scott in the Development Office.

Fundraising Statements

Jogathon is still in the process of finalizing all the payments for pledges and as soon as they are complete will be passing the information on to Parent's Club. Final fundraising statements will be coming out in email on June 4th so please be on the lookout for them. Families short of the $225 commitment will be contacted directly.

SHS Giving Tree

Thank you to all who participated in our first-ever SHS Giving Tree at Family Night.  I know the teachers are really looking forward to using their funds for the coming year.   We have kept the remaining "Donation Apples" on the bulletin board as you walk into the school.  It's not too late to make a donation...maybe you're thinking an End of Year teacher gift or a teacher you'd like to support for next school year.

Please note that we will be closing down the SHS Giving Tree next week - the deadline for making donations to the SHS Giving Tree will be next Wednesday, May 30th.

Thank you again for supporting our Amazing SHS Teachers!
