Annual Parent Survey

We need your feedback. The annual parent survey is now open online. Please take a few minutes to help us with this valuable process. Your opinions help to guide our planning for the new year. Although we cannot implement every suggestion, all of your feedback is read and carefully considered. The deadline for this year's survey is Friday, March 30th.

Mr. Murphy's Surgery

Please keep Mr. Murphy in your prayers on Friday as he has a defibrillator installed and on Monday as he undergoes back surgery. The school will be praying the Rosary in the gym on Monday morning at 8:35am. All are welcome to join us.

Grandparent's and Grandfriend's Day - SAVE THE DATE!

Friday, May 4th, 8:45am - 12:00pm Mass, Hosted buffet breakfast, Classroom Visits

Grandparent's Day is a unique opportunity for your student's grandparents/grandfriends to experience Sacred Heart School.  Online registration will begin shortly - space is limited; now would be a great time to confirm your guests availability before registration begins!

Young Authors Convention!

Mark your calendars! On Friday, April 20th SHS will hold a Young Authors Convention. Thank you for the support of our Administration and Parents' Club! On that day our students will have the wonderful opportunity to meet with and learn from real life authors!

We have scheduled local authors Claire Meeker, Deena Cook & Cherie McIntosh, Robert Dugoni, and storyteller Alleyoop for a day full of literature, learning, and educational fun.

We are planning now for this event and we are looking for volunteers who would like to assist us in making this a very special day for Sacred Heart students. Volunteer positions needed: Hospitality (coordinate refreshments and lunches for our authors), Ambassadors, need 4 (be an assistant to a visiting presenter), Bookmark contest facilitator, and Event Photographer.

Get in on the ground floor and be a part of the revival of this great tradition at SHS!

Contact Mrs. Hooper or Mrs. Engman.

Retirement

I am sure that when you walk through the halls of our school you have seen some of the amazing artwork that our students produce. Mrs. Susie Jensen has been our art teacher since 2007 (currently she teaches grade K-5). She has let us know that she will be retiring at the end of this school year after five years here and many before that as a teacher and principal. We will miss her, and wish her well in her new path which is certain to be filled with beauty and creativity.

Treats Needed to Help Sister School!

The Student Council will be holding another Bake Sale Tuesday, March 28th after school to continue to help our sister school in Nicaragua.  All proceeds will go to help buy needed supplies for the school such as books, paper, pens, and even desks. Right now the school is more like a covered area, so our funds might even go to help put up some walls and windows! Please drop off your donated goodies to Ms. Covington's room on Tuesday morning, and then remember to swing by after school in the upper and lower lots to help purchase all the treats so we can help our "neighbors" in need. Also, we are in need a few adults to help set prices and oversee the kids from 1:30-2:15. Email Ms. Covington if you are interesting in helping out. Any amount of time you could spare would be really helpful.

Smart with Art - Spring Session after school art classes

Thursdays 4/19 thru 5/31, 3-4:15pm. Open to K-5 students.

In this session students will be challenged to build upon their drawing skills, whether they are a frst-time art student or an advanced artist! We will begin with lines, basic shapes, shading, shadow, and spatial concepts. Then, we will expand students' skills with perspective, dimension, blending and texture. Whatever your skill set, this course is designed to challenge you!

We will explore drawing from observation and work with charcoal to render a still life piece. Working with soft chalk pastels, we will discover texture and spatial relationships in a cityscape. With watercolor pencils, we will create perspective in a landscape. We will culminate this session with an acrylic canvas painting that introduces value in color! Join us on this drawing adventure which will explore many mediums and challenge the artist inside of you!

6-week session Cost: $105.00, all materials are included.  (No class 5/31).

Register online by April 16th (Click "REGISTER" box in the top left corner on the homepage)
