From the Office

Conferences

Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will be held this year on October 27 and 28. During those two days, school will not be in regular session. Students only come to school for conferences. There will also be no ESS on those days.

**Please enter through the Gym Entrance for middle school conferences and through the Main Entrance for pre-k through 5th grade conferences**

Middle School Conferences

Parents of Middle School students may come to school any time during the regular conference hours (Thursday: 1-4:45 pm and 6-8:15pm and Friday: 10am-2pm and 1-4pm). All of the middle school teachers will be in the gym stationed at separate tables. Each meeting is set for up to 10 minutes. If you need to meet longer, you may stand in line again or set an appointment for a longer meeting after conferences.Students should accompany their parents to the conferences.

All middle school students have written academic and behavioral goals. Each student will be picking two subject areas they want to specifically focus on at this point. We ask that you and your child meet with at least those two teachers to discuss these goals and how to achieve them.  You may meet with any other teachers as well. We strongly recommend that you review Power School together with your child the night before conferences in preparation for these meetings.

- Mr. Burroughs

Free Dress Reminders for Monday, Oct. 31st

Any student bringing in one or more perishable foods items (per student) will be allowed to wear Free Dress on Monday, October 31st.  All of the food collected will be donated to the WIN Food Bank which feeds thousands of hungry people right here in our local community. The items most needed at this time are cranberry sauce, canned corn, canned peas, and chicken broth.

Free dress should follow the normal free-dress guidelines; students should not wear "costumes".  Boots may be worn on Free Dress days even though students are not permitted to wear them with their uniforms until we return from Thanksgiving Break.

Sacred Heart School has long supported the WIN Food Bank with annual food drives and the efforts of our 6th graders who regularly volunteer at the food bank; we strongly believe they provide an important service to our community and appreciate your support.

- Mr. Burroughs and Ms. Gray

Microsoft Employees

The month of October marks Microsoft's Employee Giving Campaign. Sacred Heart School is truly fortunate to have so many of our families and alumni working for Microsoft, a company committed to acts of giving to organizations such as SHS. If you or your spouse is an employee of Microsoft, please consider designating your employee giving to SHS. Your gift can be automatically matched by Microsoft. We have added a section with more information to our website called Microsoft Employees under our Giving tab to help you with this process.

Alumni News

Are you an alum of SHS? Do you have a child that is an alum of SHS? We want to hear from you! We are in the process of putting together our first ever alumni newsletter and want to know what our alums are up to. Let us know what is happening in high school, college or in your professional life. We will continue to highlight our recent alums in the FTH periodically so please send us your updates. And be on the lookout for the newsletter coming out this year! Please send your information to Alison Scott in the Development Office.

Sacred Heart CYO News

Cross Country 2011 and TV Appearance.

The 2011 Sacred Heart Cross Country team scored in the 97th percentage in the pre high school/pre-college Cross Country SAT test.  They defeated 38 out of 39 opponents.  Only the St. Al/John team scored more points when time ran out.  The fourth grade boys won their division which gives us hope for the future.  The third grade class will want to emulate their achievement.  The Kindergarten class had an excellent turnout.  I'm sure that will inspire this year's pre-K class to follow in their footsteps.  As of right now we are awaiting the final list of how our runners did in the 4-8 championship.  Shirts are now just starting to be designed by the 8th grade captains and will take a couple on months to finalize.  Thank you to all runners who made the sacrifice to represent our school.  Parents, volunteers and high school students also helped in the coordination of our team and the CYO meets.  Eric's Little Heroes captured some our k-3 runners on their presentation on TV.  Here is the link to see our little heroes.
