From the Office

Middle School Conferences

Parents of Middle School students may come to school any time during the regular conference hours to meet with one or more of their child's teachers. All of the middle school teachers will be in the gym stationed at separate tables. Each meeting is set for up to 10 minutes. If you need to meet longer, you may stand in line again or set an appointment for a longer meeting after conferences.

Students should accompany their parents to the conferences. All middle school students are working on academic and behavioral goal setting in homeroom. Each student will be picking two subject areas they want to specifically focus on at this point. We ask that you and your child meet with at least those two teachers to discuss these goals and how to achieve them.  You may meet with any other teachers as well. We strongly recommend that you review Power School together with your child the night before conferences in preparation for these meetings.

Halloween Food Drive and All Saints' Day

Don't forget the Halloween food drive on October 31st in support of the WIN Food Bank. They feed thousands of hungry people right here in our local community. Your child earns free dress by bringing in one or more non-perishable food items (per student). Free dress should follow the normal free-dress guidelines. Students should not wear "costumes". The following items are most needed by the Food Bank at this time: cranberry sauce, can corn, can peas, and chicken broth.

Called to Protect for Parents and Families

Will be offered at St. Therese Catholic Church in Federal Way on October 24 starting at 6:30 p.m. This class does not satisfy any training requirement for employment or volunteer service.

Featured Speaker for 7th and 8th Graders

We are pleased to welcome Stefanie Thomas from the Seattle Police Department again to Sacred Heart School. Last year she met with parents during a Parent's Club sponsored event in March. This time around, she will meet with our  7th and 8th graders during an assembly on October 25th and discuss internet safety with the students. Stefanie is a Victim Advocate in the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Unit. She will cover topics including cyber-bullying, social networking, and safety tips.
