Important School Supply Information for the 2011-12 School Year
As you are preparing for next year, please remember to purchase a binder for your child if they are entering grades 3rd - 8th.
During the summer, you can find binders at places like Office Depot and Costco that are great for students and provide important organization tools. Some important features to look for when purchasing a binder are that it should have a 6 Pocket Filing System, 3 large capacity 2" binders and a zipper close; two specific brands we are aware of that offer these kinds of binders are Tech Gear and Five Star First Gear.
Middle School Reading
In the last update, some books were left out. The middle school reading curriculum for next year will also include: Firegirl and Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry (6th grade) and Touching Spirit Bear (8th grade).
Keep Your Kids Sharp Over the Summer Vacation
You can find the summer studies, reading requirements and accompanying packets online. Also, a few Summer Skills workbooks are still available in the school office for $16 each or they can be ordered online for $19.

Annual Fund
Thank you to the 198 school families who donated to the 2010-11 Annual Fund. Thanks to your generosity we received $212,208.61 in donations and corporate matching gifts which brought us to 95% of our pledged amount! The annual fund is a significant part of our overall revenue which helps to sustain the school's instructional programs and to foster student learning and growth. This gift is an investment in the future of our students and of Sacred Heart School itself. If you contributed to the 2010-11 Annual Fund, you will be receiving a statement outlining your donations within the following week. Please keep this letter for tax purposes. If you have any questions regarding your donations, please contact Alison Scott or call at 425-451-1773 x107.
Our goal for the 2011-12 school year is $250,000 and our pledges are currently at 82% of that. Please prayerfully consider your pledge for next year so that we can meet our goal. If you have not pledged for the 2011-12 school year, please email Alison Scott with your pledge amount today. It is our hope to get 100% participation from all of our school families. Any amount makes a difference! If your employer offers a matching gift program, please take advantage of this wonderful way to increase your donation amount. We received over $33,000 in corporate matching gifts this past year!

The Wedgewood Arts Festival - Saturday, July 9th
Our own Mr. Sheffield will be performing with his group in at the Wedgewood Arts Festival tomorrow, July 9th from 1:30-3pm. The Dukes and Diva are an a cappella vocal quintet who perform an eclectic mix of music styles, including jazz, pop, doo-wop, and gospel, heavily featuring popular songs from the 1950's to the 1980's. No musical instrument is better than the human voice, and they combine 5 of them to provide melody, harmony, rhythm and sometimes percussion.
