Dear Friends,

A family goes home after a long day only to open their cabinet to make dinner and find two cans of beans. They open one and eat it. When the children ask for more they are told, "If you have this now there will be nothing to eat tomorrow."

Last week I visited with Alysa Barbash, the Executive Director of the Haven from Hunger in Peabody. When I asked her how things were going, she told me there was an increase in the amount of people the Haven was distributing food to, as well as providing evening meals. However, what really made me sit there in disbelief was when she told me they served over 11,000 lunches this past summer. All I could see was the faces of the children who came because they had nothing to eat at home.

Thank you Haven from Hunger for being a food pantry where the doors open and hope and nourishment spill out so that no one will have to worry how they will feed themselves or their children!  We call this "Neighbors helping neighbors."

Gratefully yours,

Dorothy Goodwin, President

Lynnfield Girl Scout Troop Pays it Forward

Troop 66779 Donates $300 to Gathering Change

Lynnfield Girl Scouts
Pictured (standing), left to right are: Lori Kennedy, Caitlyn Cleary, Anntonia Taylor, GCI board member Susie Cleary, Lucy Cleary, Nancy Arnesani Taylor and Troop 66779 on the deck and in the pool.

When Nancy Arnesani Taylor and Lori Kennedy decided to retire as Girl Scout leaders, they discussed with their charges what they ought to do with funds left over at the end of the year. One of the scouts, Anntonia Taylor, suggested Gathering Change, Inc., "of course." The Troop celebrated the group's accomplishments by having a pool party. Thank you all!
