Dear Friends,

I am so proud of what is happening at Gathering Change, Inc. More businesses are collecting on our behalf, schools are continuing to support us and most recently, we've been recognized by our State Senator, Katherine Clark as a charity who is making a difference in Massachusetts.

However, the generosity of others does not stop there. We are also receiving $1,000 from Cranney Home Services. Cranney Cares supports one non-profit a month. Thank you to everyone who voted for us this month!

In addition, I had the honor of speaking to the youth at the Second Congregational Church, UCC in Beverly last Sunday morning. This is their third year collecting spare change. The group I spoke with ranged in age from 4 to 14 years old. I was so impressed with their answers to what causes our neighbors to be hungry and the messages they came up with for their posters. Our philosophy at Gathering Change, Inc. is to educate and inspire. These young people did that and more.

I would be remiss if I did not thank the board and all our volunteers, who for the past three and a half years have worked so hard to help us become the charity we are!

GATHERING CHANGE, INC. IS YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD CHARITY!

Sincerely,

Dorothy Goodwin, President

LOEWS ANNUAL GIVING

Loews_rotateDonna and John Loews hold the basket they used to collect spare change for Gathering Change, Inc. at their annual Christmas party.  They collected almost $500. "We have been collecting for over 20 years for different charities at our annual Christmas party," they said.  "Gathering Change, Inc. allows us to give to the less fortunate.  It is a worthy cause."

FILLING BUCKETS FOR NOURISHMENT AND HOPE
Klove_beachbucketsMrs. Stephanie Klove from the Summer Street School in Lynnfield is shown here with her second grade students Jordan Lavey and Julia Smedira putting change in a beach bucket.   Students collect spare change for Gathering Change, Inc. to give to the food pantries that service Lynnfield residents.  Mrs. Klove spoke to the Student Council about what an impact they could have for the children around them who go to bed hungry. Inspired students then created posters with slogans which they placed around the school:  "Collect change to make change," "Just one coin makes a difference," and "Change for children" are a few that are raising awareness in the school.

Stephanie has found multiple ways of gathering change.  She has collected at her book club, staff holiday parties and she coordinated an effort to celebrate 100 days of school by collecting canned goods and coins. She also keeps a container on her counter at home! "What inspires me is to inspire the kids in my school to be caring and show kindness and character," Klove said.  "A little bit of change goes a long way." "I am also inspired by the women of Gathering Change, Inc."

Thank you Joe, Donna and Stephanie!
