A fish bowl when filled with water will sustain the life of a fish, but when it is full of spare change it will sustain the life of a human being...

...a fishbowl of coins inspired Dorothy Goodwin to create Gathering Change, Inc.

Dear Friends,

FLASH MOB For Change!

Yes, we at Gathering Change are putting one together.

Check out the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAZYYJaiphE
                         .

If you can move your arms and legs, want to make a difference in your community, and have fun doing it, then join us!

The FLASH MOB for Change will be held at the end of June in Wakefield. Remember, these are a secret, so if you want to know more contact me, dgoodwin@gatheringchangeinc.org or Mary Taggart at mctpaint@yahoo.com.

Look for an email in a few days with our first rehearsal date.

All we ask is that you bring a handful, pocketful, or bagful of change to help our neighbors in need. The food pantries in our communities see an increase during the summer months because of families whose children depend on subsidized lunches.

Thank you!

Dorothy Goodwin

President

P.S.  A special thank you goes out to Alicia for sharing her time and talents choreographing this dance for us!

P.S.S.  A MOB is a lot so spread the word.
E. Ethel Little School...does it again!

EELittle_Students

Students in Mrs. Bradley's Second Grade class at the E. Ethel Little School in North Reading are all smiles after completing a successful

The second graders with the help of fourth graders, Ava Harrington and Gabby Barker designed posters and participated in an all school meeting lead by Community Service Chairperson, Michelle Fabian. The students learned about the face of hunger in their community and how each of them can make a difference with their spare change. The assembly culminated with the second graders singing "There's A Hero".  The students and families of the E.E. Little School raised over $1,670 for Gathering Change Inc., which will be delivered to the North Reading Food Pantry on Monday, June 6th, proving..."We can do small things with great love."

A special thank you to Maeve Bradley, and to all the students, families and faculty at the E. Ethel Little School who donated
their spare change for their neighbors in need.

We would like to wish the SaugusBank on Rte.1, at Lynn Fells Pkwy, Saugus, a very happy 100th Birthday.

With the help of their coin counting machine, we have named "Buddy," Gathering Change, Inc. has been able to count  $80,000 in coins. The gracious tellers and staff have welcomed us day after day despite all the noise we make.

Gathering Change, Inc. has been able to fulfill its mission with the help and generosity of the SaugusBank.

Thank you!

About Gathering Change, Inc.

Gathering Change, Inc., is a grassroots charitable organization that collects spare change from our homes, schools, faith communities and businesses. Our mission is to meet the immediate basic needs of citizens within our cities and towns who cannot achieve this goal alone. The funds are distributed back into our local food pantries and social programs. Gathering Change, Inc., gives everyone the opportunity to participate by sharing their abundance, thereby fostering a sense of interconnection, care and well-being throughout our neighborhoods.

What's in your pocket?
A loaf of bread, a gallon of milk?

Why give to us:

  1. No Salaries are taken from these donations.
  2. The funds raised in your community stay in your    community.
  3. Everyone has the opportunity to give.
  4. For every $1 donated, most food pantries can purchase $4 worth of food from the food bank.
