On Wednesday, September 29th from 7 - 9 pm, Itasca Bank  will moderate the Inaugural  Shape of Carol Stream Live Town Hall Meeting held at the Gregory J. Bielawski Municipal Center in the Board Chambers located at 500 N. Gary Ave. from, 7 - 9 p.m. Residents are invited to attend the Town Hall meeting during which the following local governmental leaders in the Carol Stream community will report on the current state of their organization:
 

This event will be broadcast live on Channel 6 for Comcast subscribers and Channel 99 for AT&T subscribers for residents who are unable to attend in person. Residents viewing the live broadcast will be able to submit questions to members of the panel by phone at (630) 871-6250 or by e-mail at administration@

This edition of the E-Stream Newsletter includes information on upcoming events and activities sponsored in and around the Carol Stream community during the upcoming 2 week period. Specifics on the following events are included in this edition: Voter Registration Campaign, the 2nd Annual Cantigny Green Fair, a local Greening Seminar hosted by Cool Cities Carol Stream, the annual Fire Prevention Week Open House and the Scarecrow Festival & Farmer's Market both scheduled for Saturday, October 2nd. 

In closing, don't miss the opportunity to be a part of  this year's 'Shape of Carol Stream', Call-In Town Hall Meeting broadcast LIVE on local cable access channel #6 (Comcast Customers) and channel #99 (AT&T Subscribers) at 7 pm on Wed., Sept. 29th. Residents can be part of the program audience or tune in via your television set and submit a question(s) by phone or e-mail.  This event is sponsored by Itasca Bank & Trust Co. and an opportunity to hear first hand the challenges facing your community's various local governments.  
 Voter Registration Deadline for the
  Nov. 2nd General Election Nears
 
Voter RegistrationThe deadline to register to vote in an election is 28 days prior to a scheduled election. The next election is scheduled for Tue., Nov. 2nd and the official voter registration deadline is Tue., October 5th. To be eligible to vote in the upcoming general election, you must be 18 on or before the scheduled election and have lived within the voting precinct 30 prior to the election.  Residents can register in person at the Bielawski Municipal Center, the Carol Stream Public Library or the Park District Simkus Recreational Center during normal business hours.  For information on satellite registration location hours, click here.
 
Residents can also register to vote by mail by downloading the registration application and mailing it to the DuPage County Election Commission by the Oct. 5th deadline.  To download a copy of the Voter Registration Applicationclick here.
 
Voters who fail to register by the Oct. 5th deadline will be given a 2nd opportunity during a 14-day grace period scheduled from Wed., Oct 6th - Wed., Oct. 20th. Please note that late voter registration can only be done in person at the DuPage County Election Commission  during the 14-day grace period. For DuPage Election Commission hours of operationclick here.   
2nd Annual Green Fair Scheduled for Sept. 25
 
S.C.A.R.C.E. (School & Community Assistance for Recycling/Composting Education) and Cantigny will cohost the 2nd Annual Green Fair on Sat., September 25th at Cantigny Gardens in Wheaton from 10 am - 4 pm. This  education event will showcase successful environmental program initiatives in our region community for people, businesses and the environmental educators 

The Green Fair line-up includes eco-activities for kids, a local and organic Farmer's Market, cooking demonstrations, live music, an environmental product/service Expo with 100 participating vendors as well as a 'Fashion EcoNista' Show hosted by NBC's Meteorologist, Ginger Zee. In addition, high school and college students are invited to enter a Recycled Art Contest to compete for cash prizes. Cool Cities Carol Stream to Host Green Seminar
 

Kay McKeen, Executive Director of S.C.A.R.C.E. will conduct a FREE Sustainability (GREENING) Seminar on Thu., Sept. 30th at  7 pm at the Carol Stream Library located at 616 Hiawatha Dr. Seminar topics covered include waste, energy and water conservation practices, product reuse, environmental product awareness and community recycling and how to develop a personal sustainability plan for you and your household. Because seating is limited, reservations are needed and can be made by sending an email to CoolCityCarolStream@comcast.net.

Fire Prevention Week Open House- Sat., Oct 2
 
October is National Fire Prevention Month all throughout the country. This year's theme is 'Smoke Alarms' - a Sound You Can Live With!. To this end, the Carol Stream Fire Protection District will host their Annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Sat., October 2nd from 11 am - 2 pm at Fire House #1 located at 365 N. Kuhn Rd.  Fire Prevention Week Open House festivities include station tours, Touch-a Fire Truck, Ambulance, fire safety demonstrations and the ever-popular Fire Fighter Challenge Course.  This event is free to residents and the general public a complimentary food and refreshments will be served and prizes and giveaways will be provided to the children. For more information on 2010 Fire Prevention Monthclick here. 
Carol Stream School PTA Hosts Scarecrow Fest
 
The Carol Stream PTA hosts a Scarecrow Festival and Farmer's Market on Sat. Oct. 2nd from 11 am - 3 pm at Carol Stream School located at 422 Sioux Lane.  Festival activities will include a scarecrow contest, raffle prize drawings, a fall craft fair, a corn roast and a Farmer's Market.  Food and refreshments will be served.  For directions to Carol Stream School, click here.
