Summer Concert Series Continues
The Village and its 2010 event sponsors will be hosting the following upcoming summer concert at the Ferraro Town Center:
Thu., Aug. 12- Spoken Four (Rock) Spoken Four's concert playlist has over five decades of vintage rock n' roll music that includes your childhood favorites as well as contemporary smash hits that will rock you steady. Spoken Four has some of the finest, top-tier Chicago musicians including Dave Calzaretta of Maggie Speaks fame whose vocal chops and swank will compliment the stellar musicianship from this renowned rock quartet. All concerts begin at 7 pm but come down to the Town Center as early as 6 pm to sample signature food from the evening's food vendor. FEMA to Host Emergency Preparedness Seminar
In anticipation of National Disaster Preparedness month, FEMA will be hosting a Family Preparedness Seminar on Tue., August 10th at 7 PM at the Carol Stream Public Library located at 616 Hiawatha Dr. Disaster Specialist Don Thompson from the DuPage County FEMA Branch will provide disaster information on the following critical preparedness areas:
* Disaster Profile of Carol Stream
* Pre-Planning for a Disaster Event
* Helping Children Cope During a Disaster
* Essential Elements of a Family Disaster Plan
* 72-Hour Self Sufficiency Benchmark

Document Shredding & Recycling Event
On Saturday, August 14th from 8 am -1 pm, Hanover Township will host a FREE Document Shredding & Recycling Event at Township Government Center located in Bartlett at 250 S. Route 59. Event patrons are limited to 3 banker boxes of documents for shredding. A recycling event will be held concurrently and accept the following items for recycling collection:
* Scrap Metal * Electronics * Cell Phones
* Bicycles * Shoes * Car & Marine Batteries
* Books * Worn US Flags * Eye Glasses/Hearing Aids
Unacceptable items include household hazardous wastes, oil, furniture, microwaves, propane tanks, plaster, appliances and furniture. For directions to Hanover Township, click here. |

COD to Host 6th Annual DuPage Job Fair
College of DuPage will host the 6th Annual DuPage Job Fair on Thu., August 19th from 10 am - 4pm in Room 2800 of the Student Resources Center on COD's Glen Ellyn campus located at 425 Fawell Blvd.
The event will feature 75 employers seeking to hire candidates to fill jobs at all employment levels. Attendees should dress for a job interview and bring several copies of their resume. For more information on the 6th Annual DuPage Job Fair, click here. |
'Battle of the Badges' Blood Drive
The Carol Stream Police Department will compete head-to-head with the Carol Stream Fire Protection District in the 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges Community Blood Drive scheduled for Thu., August 12th from 3- 7 pm at the Carol Stream Municipal Center located at 500 N. Gary Ave. Any person giving blood can donate their pint to either public safety agency with the winning agency receiving a traveling trophy for their recruitment effort. In giving blood, you give the gift of life to those in your community most in need.
