BYDS After School Activities in spring

to feature new academic and social skills programs

The BYDS After School Activities for the second half of the school year is being spiced up with three new outstanding academic and social development additions-these new programs all happen to be on Mondays:

For the three's and Pre-K students, "Songbird Adventures" is a literacy through music program designed to support, encourage, and enrich the foundations of literacy. We know that early exposure to musical concepts is a crucial tool for building auditory, linguistic, mathematical, and social skills. This fun-filled musical atmosphere will be a great way to enhance those skills!

For Pre-K and Kindergarten students, "Happy Hands," will be a fun, multi-sensory class for children to develop fine motor skills and learn correct letter formation (lowercase letters). The program will feature fun activities and coolart projects to help children develop the prerequisite skills necessary to hold a pencil correctly, tie shoelaces, cut with scissors, color and manage dressing skills. The class will be taught by two Occupational Therapists.

For First through Fifth Grade students, "Social Butterflies" is a social skill building class that supports children to navigate in social situations. It will also teach kids strategies for counteracting bullying and safe ways to intervene in bullying situations. Class activities are intended to target the following skills: Eye contact; turn taking; respect; sharing; self control; fairness; helpfulness.

There are many more programs being offered-you will find all the usual successful programs still on our menu of activities. If you haven't seen the full After School Activities electronic booklet, check your emails from this week-all families should have received it. But if you'd like another copy, or to ask questions, email your request to Mireille Chait at mchait@bethyeshurun.org or Monique Turner at mturner@bethyeshurun.org.

Dear Parents,

Hope you can help!

We are in need of Kippot for our students who either forget them at home or lose them during the course of the day.  If you have any Kippot that you can donate to Beth Yeshurun, we would love to have them.  They will be washed, ironed and available to those who need them.  Please send the Kippot to school within the next 2 weeks marked to Mr. Knafo's attention.

Thanks for your help

Sharon Knafo
