 Can You Say "Germinate"?
 

Pre-K students launched stage one of their Garden program with a scientific project that will test three different approaches to sprouting lima beans.   The contest now begins: Will the winner be the cups with cotton balls? Paper plates with cotton balls? Or paper towels in plastic bags?  Teachers are speculating that the beans will sprout in less than a week, and then students will take a tour to the other classrooms, observing the results and determining the winner.  All students will win with this project, however, as everyone will be planting the little greens out in their new garden plots on the school's West End. In the meantime, we invite parent volunteers to help prepare the beds by churning up the soil and adding organic compost or aged manure next Tuesday morning at 9:00am.  Please bring a bag of compost or manure with you on Tuesday in order to help us get the gardens ready!

In honor of the upcoming unique numerological day of Friday, 11.11.11, Mr. E invites all parents to join him for "Coffee on the Ones" in the BYDS Front Reception / Admin Conference Wing area. On that morning, beginning at 7:45am, Mr. E is inviting any and all parents to stop in for some free, flavored coffee and some morning snacks-a special occasion for high octane schmoozing!

Congregation Beth Yeshurun is inviting all members with any type of disability, their families and friends to participate in discussions about how Beth Yeshurun can be more inclusive. Whether the disability is developmental, life-long, acquired unexpectedly or age-related, we want to hear from you. Whether the disability is cognitive, physical, mental-illness, on the autism spectrum, hearing or of any other nature, we want to hear from you.

 

A professional facilitator will conduct the discussions. Through the focus groups we want to learn your disability-related concerns and needs as well as any ideas you have for how Beth Yeshurun may address them.
