Storm Water Tip of the Month
Provided by the City of Buellton
Winter will be upon us in no time. It's the perfect time to make sure your parking lot inlets are free of debris and are clear for proper storm water drainage this rainy season. It's always a good idea to clean leaves, trash, sand and other debris from parking lots regularly or as needed to prevent it from reaching a storm drain inlet. For more information on the Storm Water Management Program, contact (805)688-5200

Greetings! Although our calendars say it's October and it's Fall, the month started out like the first of July....Hot! Hopefully you enjoyed the last dose of summer and are looking forward to cooler days. October is not only a time for harvest and pumpkins, but it is also fire safety month, breast cancer awareness month and for many beer drinkers, it's a month to enjoy beer! Be sure to check out the Bruegala Buellton a German beer festival set for October 27th at River View Park. See below for details. Also, we hope you will participate in our new Halloween activity, Ghoulton Candy Trail, where kids can Trick-or-Treat at your business. See below for more details. We enjoy all the news we receive about our business members, please keep the stories coming so we may continue to share. |
October 17th Mixer 5-7pm
Rabobank, Buellton

Sonia Jimenez, Branch Manager for Rabobank and her staff invite you to attend their fall mixer. Complete with food, beverages, and live music, the crew at Rabobank look forward to having you come see their office and welcome in the harvest season. Remember to bring your business cards and take this time to meet fellow members who may fill a need you have or you may have a product or service they need. Our Mixers offer a great opportunity for networking and meeting fellow Chamber members and friends. We've had many success stories of contacts being made and new business transactions taking place as a result of our Mixers. If you would like to promote your business a bit further with a donation of a raffle prize, please contact the Chamber. We appreciate your kind contributions and look forward to seeing you on October 17th.
Some New Rules for our Featured Business/Person Drawing
We will be drawing our Featured business/person of the month from the Member Perpetual numbers rather than from the business card drawing. We will still have our $1.00 business card drawing for the cash prize, but we will be saving our featured business section for Members only. Please see below for our Featured Person of the month. The Perpetual Drawing that we do on a monthly basis went unclaimed. The number drawn belonged to Monte's Auto Body, but the winner must be present to win. Next month's perpetual drawing will go up to $90.00. |
Halloween Fun!
Buellton Chamber presents:
Ghoulton Candy Trail
We are inviting our business members to participate in our first Candy Trail. What is this you ask? Well, to keep our kids safe on Halloween, we are inviting our businesses to provide treats for the little ghosts and goblins to come visit your business and trick-or-treat between the hours of 4-6pm on Halloween. The Chamber will promote the Ghoulton Candy Trail and will provide window posters to participating businesses.
If you would like to participate, please contact our office so we may include you on the list of participating businesses. Also, feel free to promote the Candy Trail at your business through the month of October so your customers become aware and share it with their friends.
We hope you will join us as we launch this fun activity for the kids in our community and open up your business to them. Contact the Chamber at: 688-7829 |
Featured Business
of the Month
Trikke
Thank you, Buellton and Buellton Chamber of Commerce for all the tremendous support you have given us since moving Trikke's world headquarters here nearly 6 years ago. It's great to have a showroom next door to Buellton's Visitor's Center on Avenue of the Flags for all of the walk-in business that we get from locals and travelers alike! Business associates visit us here from all over the world, and have wonderful things to say about this beautiful valley that we have chosen to call home.
We have developed a number of new products and programs here, including our entire line of electric vehicles and our Physical Education program. Buellton was the first city in the world to deploy our electric vehicles for reading its water meters, and is now being followed in other California cities. Jonata School chose our Trikke PE program and curriculum with great success.
The River View Park has been a terrific place to gather after we host local rides, and Santa Rosa Road provides a world class ride for all of us and our enthusiasts to enjoy (and, yes, we ride from Buellton to hwy 1 and back!). Not to mention riding on Ballard Canyon Road from Buellton to Solvang or Los Olivos, it's a blast!
The many Trikke fans (some because we helped them to get fit and stay fit, and some because they're having a blast riding to work on our electric vehicles) now know about Buellton.
We welcome anyone to come by and take a test ride at 597 Ave of Flags #103, or call 693-0800 or email us at info@trikke.com
We also have a select number of excellent refurbished units in stock (while they last) |

Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society Pet of the Month
Diva Himalayan Mix Snowshoe 13yrs. F(S)
Diva is a darling and has been the apple of her mother's eye for almost 13 years. Now at the Humane Society, she has her own room complete with a soft mat for visitors. She likes to cuddle next to them as if she is at a coffee shop catching up with her best friend. She lets you do most of the talking and chimes in when appropriate. The most striking thing about her is her dynamic tail. She can wag it like a dog or rattle it with excitement. It never seems to stop moving. Come visit with her today. You will be glad you did. Diva is a senior with a clean bill of health and a recent dental. She is microchipped and weighs 10lbs.
Thank You,

Do you or your employees know where the Buellton Visitors Center and Chamber of Commerce is located?
Please, if you haven't done so already, share with your employees where our office is located. Occasionally we have visitors come in who have been at a local business and have asked where the Visitors Center is and have been given a blank look or an "I don't know" Your staff is a very important part of our economy and an even more important ambassador for our community. We understand many employees live outside of Buellton and even the Valley, but they spend their working hours here meeting and greeting visitors to our area. Please let them know the Buellton Visitors Center is located at 597 Avenue of Flags, Unit 101. Bring your staff over to see what we offer, you're more than welcome to come by anytime. Thank you. |

Thank You to the Apple Creek Ranch for Hosting our September Mixer
We would like to thank Fran Shulman and her son Randal along with their entire crew for hosting a one of a kind mixer. Tucked away in the outskirts of Buellton, Apple Creek Ranch offers an amazing location for those special occasions. Who knew such a special treat existed just outside our door? We truly appreciate all of the work that went into hosting this mixer, from the valet parking, by Blue Star, when you arrived, the music by RJ the Sound Guy, to the wonderful food, including Decadence Fine Cakes sinful dessert bar, and wines by Babcock Vineyards. We truly appreciate their hospitality and sharing their home with all of us. Thank you again Apple Creek!
As you are aware, our chamber depends on memberships, fundraisers, and mixer raffles to support our day to day operations. Many thanks to our members who are very generous with donations for our raffle:

A Little Office Humor
Sick Leave: I urgently needed a few days off work, but I knew the Boss would not allow me to take a leave. I thought that maybe if I acted "CRAZY" then he would tell me to take a few days off. So, I hung upside down on the ceiling and made funny noises. My co-worker asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was pretending to be a light bulb so that the Boss would think I was "CRAZY" and give me a few days off. A few minutes later the Boss came into the office and asked,"What are you doing?" I told him I was a light bulb. He said, "You are clearly stressed out. Go home and recuperate for a couple of days." I jumped down and walked out of the office. When my co-worker followed me, the Boss asked her, "And where do you think you're going?" She said, "I'm going home too, I can't work in the dark." |
