Do you offer Discounts?
We mentioned in our last newsletter that we are gathering Chamber Member discount offerings and we hope to assemble a pamphlet that we can hand out to our visitors and community members.  This is no cost to you.  You simply inform us of the discount you offer and we will add you to the list.  This goes beyond the Member to Member discount we already have going.  This will be a Member to Community discount offering.  If you have an ongoing special that you offer and would like to get the word out to our community and visitors, please email the information to kathy@buellton.org. For example: Maybe you offer 10% off on Monday or Two for one on Tuesday, etc. We invite you to take advantage of this great opportunity and encourage people to shop local and do business with you.

Greetings!

Summer is coming to a quick end and school will be in session before you know it.  Store shelves are already lined with school supplies and all the latest gizmos and gadgets.  Do you have a product or service to offer to parents, students, or teachers?  Be sure to grab your share of these shoppers.  Whether it's products like clothing, school supplies, furniture for dorm rooms, or maybe it's a health check up for students starting school, or a massage for mom and dad.  Be creative and think of something you may offer as a back to school special. Be aware of what is taking place around you and find a way your business may benefit.
 August 15th Mixer 5-7pm
Buellton Medical Center along with On Site Computer
195 West Hwy 246
Buellton Medical Center along with On Site Computer will be holding a fun filled August Mixer.  Buellton Medical Center recently moved into their new location so be sure to come to the mixer and see their new space, complete with a waiting room, nurses station, patient rooms, and a meeting room.  Myra and Ryan have invited other local business members to participate and show off their wares and services during the mixer as well.  Donations of $1.00 will be accepted for beer and wine with proceeds benefitting Friends of the Library and other charitable organizations.  They have also arranged for live music, so mark your calendars and plan to attend.  Our Mixers offer a great opportunity for networking and meeting fellow Chamber members and friends.  We've had many success stories of contacts being made and new business transactions taking place as a result of our Mixers.  If you would like to promote your business a bit further with a donation of a raffle prize, please contact the Chamber.  We appreciate your kind contributions and look forward to seeing you on August 15th.
Remember to participate in our new drawings.  For $1.00 you may enter your business card into a drawing.  Following the Raffle prize give away, we will draw a business card out of the bowl.  The first card drawn will win the money that was collected for the drawing.  The next card pulled will be our Featured Business or Person in the next Chamber Newsletter.  Please see below for our Featured Person of the month. The Perpetual Drawing that we do on a monthly basis went unclaimed.  The number drawn belonged to Matt Snyder, but the winner must be present to win.  Next month's perpetual drawing will go up to $80.00.

Tricia Hamaker

Hi, I'm Tricia Hamaker. I was born in Santa Barbara but have lived in Buellton for most of my life. I remember when Buellton had a wild animal park and a bowling alley. I raised my family here, spent seven years as a water polo mom for my sons Hunter and Evan in high school and college, and have two marvelous grandchildren, Alana and Kai. I started out as a beauty supply rep for four years and have dedicated the past 30 years to my passion for the craft of hairstyling. I opened Artistic Hair Company in September, 2011 to create a warm and welcoming haven here in the Valley, offering fresh ideas in beauty. I offer flattering cuts, hair coloring (my specialty), perms and keratin hair smoothing treatment. I have an esthetician, massage therapist and manicurist available by appointment to provide a full range of services including manicures, pedicures, gel nails, massages, waxing and facials. Artistic Hair Company offers uncompromising quality in a relaxed but professional atmosphere. I invite you to experience a spirit renewing spa treatment or try the latest sophisticated trends in hair or a classic cut and color. I can restore dull hair to lustrous beauty or give you the rich, complex, natural looking color you've always wanted. I also have a boutique with fun clothes, makeup and an array of exceptional beauty products, carefully chosen to nourish and protect your hair. Artistic Hair Company is located off Hwy 246 at 290 Valley Station Drive in Buellton. Give me a call at 805.688.4444 or 805.350.3046  or contact me at waterpolomom@msn.com

Verify your information for the Buellton Chamber Business Directory and Community Resource Guide
By now many of you have received calls from a representative with D&M Publishing Company.  Hopefully you have taken the time to speak with them and go over the advertising details.  This directory will be a first for Buellton and unique to our residents and visitors.  It will highlight Chamber Members, provide area information, maps, demographics, business listings, and much more.  I have some examples here in our office if you would like to see one.  We are very excited about getting this directory off the ground.
In the meantime, I would like to ask all of our members to take a look at your profile on our website and make sure your information is current and correct.  To do this, you may log onto our website, buellton.org  and click "Member Login" at the top right corner.  Once there you will be prompted to enter your email address and password.  If you do not know your password or have changed your email address, please contact our office and we'll be happy to assist you.  Once you're logged into your profile, you may correct your information, add a logo, add a member to member discount and more.  This will be most helpful when it comes to the business listing in the new directories, as this is the information we have on file and this is what will be used.  Please make sure your information is up to date.   To contact our office for help, please call 688-7829.  Thank you for your assistance with this directory.

Benefit planned for Trevor Guerra employee of All Sport Fitness
August 15th, 6pm at Avant.

A benefit is being held to help out a local member of our community who was recently involved in a tragic accident.  Trevor Guerra is a hardworking, loving and respectful husband, father, son, and friend. He is employed at All Sport Fitness as a fitness trainer in Buellton.
On June, 27, 2012 Trevor was critically injured in a terrible accident on their property. Suffering extreme damage to both legs, he severed his femoral artery, fractured his left tibia and a compound fracture to his right fibula (ankle
bone). The surgeons had to remove a vein from Trevor's right thigh and mend it to his left femoral artery and he remains in the hospital to rehabilitate his leg. It will be many months before he is able to walk again

Tickets are $50.00 per person and may be purchased at Avant or All Sport Fitness.   The proceeds will help with medical expenses for Trevor.  They are also seeking auction items, if you would like to donate a product or service or even cash, please contact Valerie at  448-1202.  Any and all help is greatly appreciated.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Trevor and his family.

Tonka

Tonka  Chihuahua  Black/Chocolate  3yrs.  M(N)

Tonka is a grinner. He lifts his teeny little top lip to show you his teeny little front teeth. He is quite proud of his teeth, so much so that he retained all his baby ones. We pulled the extras and now he's ready to smile for you. Tonka is a "person" dog.  He'll play with dogs, but "his person" is his first love. He'll  fit nicely in the crook of your arm or the comfort of your lap. His beautiful smoke colored coat makes him a nice addition to any wardrobe. Come try him on for size. Tonka is microchipped.

Thank You to the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott for Hosting our July Mixer
Our sincere thanks goes to Mike Hendrick and his entire staff at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott for putting on a great Summer Solstice Mixer.  They always go above and beyond the call of duty and we greatly appreciate their generosity.  The Marriott showed off their new patio decor and outdoor firepit along with the new pool furniture.  Live music and Chef Ofelio's famous tacos were also a big hit.   I understand the party after the party continued in the Winner's Circle Lounge.  Be sure to visit the Marriott and enjoy the Starting Gate and Winner's Circle Lounge.  Also check out the Happy Hour Special at the Winner's Circle.  We truly appreciate our Mixer hosts and all they do to welcome us to their establishments.   As you are aware, our chamber depends on memberships, fundraisers, and mixer raffles to support our day to day operations.  Many thanks to our members who are very generous with donations for our raffle:  Buellton Kitchen & Bath ~ Mike Flint of Chamber Strategies ~ SYV Marriott ~ Tish Beltranena w/ Santa Ines Planning ~ Blush ~ People Helping People ~ By Faith Mobile Massage ~ JM Morales ~ Santa Barbara Bank & Trust ~ All Sport Fitness Center ~ Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society ~ Country Garden Catering ~ Valley Pets ~Dr. Dennis Bales ~ Jan & Lamont Chase ~ Zaca Creek Golf Course ~ Trikke ~ PAWS Park ~ Anacapa Pest Control ~ Buellton Medical Center ~ SYV Community Phone Book.   Our Perpetual Drawing winner was Matt Snyder, however he was not present so the drawing goes up to $80.00 at our next mixer.  Winner must be present to win.
Buellton Beautification Program
When's the last time you gave your business a little face lift?  Does the entrance and frontage of your business say, "Welcome" or does it say, "Go Away"?  It's amazing what a little curb appeal can do for your business.  It doesn't have to be an expensive overhaul, but a few flowers, planter boxes, water fountain, bright colored pillow on a bench, maybe even sweeping away the webs and washing the windows, they can all enhance the look of your business.  The idea is to create an inviting feel so that customers want to enter your business.  We've put together a program and we challenge you to "Beautify" your property.  We ask that photos and recommendations be submitted to our Chamber office for a winner to be selected.  Winner's will be chosen on a quarterly basis and will receive a Certificate of Beautification, a press release in the paper, and a gift certificate to the Windmill Nursery.  So go ahead and get started...be sure to include your employees as well.  Make it a team building project and have fun with it.  You'll be so glad you did.
Google Business Photo
Give your customers a virtual tour of your business.  Google Business Photo is a unique way to share your business with the community online.  You know the saying, "You can't judge a book by it's cover" well, with Google Business Photo, you are able to share the inside of your business with anyone at anytime.  Contact Jack Drake with Paradigm Shift Media to help you get started.  Jack is certified with Google to do the photography and get you up and running. Contact him for rates and availability.  448-5944 or paradigm.shift.media.productions@gmail.com
