Do you offer Discounts?
We mentioned in our last newsletter that we are gathering Chamber Member discount offerings and we hope to assemble a pamphlet that we can hand out to our visitors and community members. This is no cost to you. You simply inform us of the discount you offer and we will add you to the list. This goes beyond the Member to Member discount we already have going. This will be a Member to Community discount offering. If you have an ongoing special that you offer and would like to get the word out to our community and visitors, please email the information to kathy@buellton.org. For example: Maybe you offer 10% off on Monday or Two for one on Tuesday, etc. We invite you to take advantage of this great opportunity and encourage people to shop local and do business with you. |

Greetings!
July = Tourists. How are you going to attract some of those tourists dollars coming into the valley this summer? Be creative and be prepared. Do you offer a traveler special? How about giving out a unique souvenir or promotional piece with your business name on it? Buellton attracts visitors from all over the world. Think about what you would like if you were on vacation. What would make you want to visit that place again? Was it the service, the people, the area, the ammenities? Even though we dread getting stuck behind a slow moving car on the flats, we must remember, they are boosting our economy and that is a good thing. Give it some thought and have fun with it. A smile goes a long way and great customer service will keep them coming back. |

Featured Person
of the Month
Lucy Loli
Hi, my name is Lucy Loli. I was born in Lima, Peru and have 11 brothers and sisters. My Mom is from Seattle, Washington and my Dad is from Peru. I moved to the U.S. when I was 20 years old and I've lived in the Valley for over 24 years. I'm married to Miguel Loli with two children, Nicole and Michael. I have more than 25 years experience in the travel industry and I work as an independent travel consultant for Your Travel Center. Prior to my current position, I worked as a Travel Agent with Viking Travel, in Solvang, for 20 years unil they closed their doors in 2008. You name it and I'll make it happen by doing my best to meet your travel needs. My specialties are cruises, adventure and leisure travel to Peru, Latin America, Tahiti, French Polynesia, Mexico, Italy, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. My unique selling points are threefold: I'm a Peruvian native with extensive knowledge of Peru and Latin America, I speak English and Spanish fluently, and I have a politically influential family and many personal connections in Peru. These connections help my clients deeply integrate with the Peruvian culture during their travel, as they learn from the stories, experiences, and lives of the Peruvian people. If exploring Peru is on your bucket list, why not join my group traveling to Peru in April 2013? I'd be honored to show you my beautiful country and home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World. (Do you know which one it is?) Please contact me and remember I'm here to assist you with all your travel needs: (805)245-8448 or lucyloli_ytc@yahoo.com.

Together we can make a difference, but we need to take the first step. Thank you for your support.
- Governor Jerry Brown: State Capitol Building, Ste. 1173, Sacramento, CA 95814

Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society Pet of the Month
Libby, f(s), Pomeranian/Chihuahua, 3 yrs, 7 lbs
Libby is one of those dogs who is just plain wonderful. She adjusts to new situations well, she gets along with dogs and cats, and she is even housebroken. Found as a stray, she spent a month in a foster home where she regularly used the open door to potty. She is submissive in her interactions with people and dogs, although she will try to keep other dogs away when she is enjoying lap time. No worries, quickly putting her on the floor works every time. This beautiful carefree dog is ready to go home with you today. Contact the Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society today: 688-8224 or info@syvhumane.org . |

Thank You to Standing Sun Winery for Hosting our June Mixer
Thank you John & Laura Wright along with Christine Cunningham, of Standing Sun Winery, for hosting our mixer in June. Located at the Eastern most end of Second Street in Buellton, Standing Sun offers a unique experience when it comes to wine tasting. As you sip and swirl, you are able to take in the surroundings of the production and the next harvest just waiting to be uncorked. An outside patio allows you to enjoy the outdoors as you savor their blends. We couldn't be more happy to have such a great family business and quality product here in Buellton. Remember Standing Sun the next time you're entertaining, gift giving, or just wine-ding down. We truly appreciate our Mixer hosts and all they do to welcome us to their establishments. As you are aware, our chamber depends on membership, fundraisers, and mixer raffles to support our day to day operations. Many thanks to our members who are very generous with donations for our raffle: All Sport Fitness Center ~ Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society ~ People Helping People ~ Country Garden Catering ~ Valley Pets ~ AJ Spurs & Pea Soup Andersen's ~ Your Travel Center ~ Buellton Kitchen & Bath ~ New West Catering ~ Zaca Creek Golf Course ~ Chumash Casino & Resort ~ John & Darinda Kunkel ~ Paws Park ~ Ascendant Spirits. Our Perpetual Drawing winner was Don Bratt, however he was not present so the drawing goes up to $75.00 at our next mixer. Winner must be present to win. This month's Trivia Question was: "Where was the Buellton airport located?" The Answer: The Mesa on the East side of Ballard Canyon. When you're driving along the flats to Solvang, look up to your left and that's the mesa. |
Mixer Host Needed for August Mixer
We are in the search of a Mixer host for August 15th Mixer. If you would like to promote your business and host a mixer in August, please contact the Chamber. Our Mixer hosts have the opportunity to attract many members to their place of business and showcase what products and services they have to offer. It's a great way to educate the community about your business. As a mixer host, we ask that you provide light hors d'oeuvres and drinks. You are welcome to partner with a winery or another business to help offset the cost. We will take care of the promotion, raffle, and running the program once we are there. Please contact the Chamber if this sounds like something you might be interested in. 688-7829. |
