Future Story Home Gatherings This Month:

"I thought this was going to be boring, but it was so
much fun and enlightening!"

This was expressed by Marie Grochohske after experiencing the first home gathering. Those who participated found themselves energized and excited
through the fellowship and conversation and would like to invite you to do the same.  Sign up for one of the Home Gatherings and let's get excited about the future!

What is the Future Story

of Mt. Hermon?

Imagine Mt. Hermon 10 Years in the Future:

What do you hope will be newsworthy about Mt. Hermon? What will the community want to know about this congregation? What will we look like? You are invited to consider these very questions through an exercise of imagination and reflection.

Future Story Reflection Exercise:

Every member who has a heart and passion for Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church and a desire to be a part of the journey toward the kingdom is asked to participate in this exercise. In this exercise you will be asked to reflect on the future of Mt. Hermon by writing (or be able to share verbally) a newspaper article 10 years in future. What do you hope will be newsworthy? How did we get from where we are to this future event? What kind of things did we have to overcome and what experiences do you anticipate on the journey?

Home Gatherings in October:

After writing (or thinking about) your future story, you are invited to participate in a home gathering during the month of October. In these home gatherings, in addition to the fellowship, you will have the opportunity to share your story with others and together look for the verb that will empower and enliven the congregation toward that hoped for future story.

Reformation Sunday Gathering -

Finding the Verb: On Sunday night, October 30th, we will have a congregational meal (Covered Dish) and fellowship. From the verbs discovered in the gatherings, we will identify the one that best fits and describes the animating presence of the Spirit in the life of this community.

Future story exercise instructions will be available in the bulletins each Sunday,  and on the website at www.mthermonelca.org  (towards the bottom of the page). Please join in the journey of discovering our verb.

Finding Our Verb

Congregation members and friends are invited to join a Home Group during the month of October.  First, we will write (or be able to share verbally) a future story that puts Mt Hermon 10 years into the future (see above).  As we come together we will share our stories at home gatherings, finding our verbs that best fit and describe the animating presence of the Spirit at Mt Hermon.  Please sign up for a group today by filling out a form in the bulletin, or by emailing Linda@ MtHermonELCA.org, or calling 704-782-2326 xt 102.  Dates for home groups are:

BLESSING OF THE PETS

Sunday, Oct 2 at 5:00 p.m.

At Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church

Bring your pets (dog, cat, fish, hamster, bird) for a special blessing on Sunday, October 2 at 5 p.m.  It is traditional around the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, to bless and give thanks for our pets.  They are a blessing to us all year round.  Everyone is invited to attend.  Please bring animals on a leash or appropriate container (or bring their picture if they cannot visit in person).   For more information contact Christy Beaver at 910-220-2653 or call the office at 704-782-2326.  Sponsored by the Young Adults at Mt Hermon.
