BLESSING OF THE PETS

At Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church

Bring your pets (dog, cat, fish, hamster, bird) for a special blessing on Sunday, October 2 at 5 p.m.  It is traditional around the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, to bless and give thanks for our pets.  They are a blessing to us all year round.  Everyone is invited to attend.  Please bring animals on a leash or appropriate container (or bring their picture if they cannot visit in person).   For more information contact Christy Beaver at 910-220-2653 or call the office at 704-782-2326.  Sponsored by the Young Adults at Mt Hermon.

Join all three services at One Service on October 9th at 9:45 a.m. - We will begin with a Prelude, then, enter into Worship praising God through a variety of music (chosen by the congregation over the past month) and people sharing their sacred stories.  All three music groups will combine to make a joyful noise unto the Lord!  Monday night service, for those not able to attend on Sundays, will meet this week.

Join your church family and friends for a Picnic in the Park!  We will begin games and pumpkin painting at 3:00 p.m.,  Food at 5:00 p.m. and Fellowship all day long! Bring your favorite side dish, your 'Hermon the Grill' item, yard chairs, appetite and get ready to have a great time. Contact Beth & Bill Coleman for more information at 704-960-4271.

Heather Hughes is collecting Little Debbie Snacks and Lance Crackers for appreciation baskets for safety officers and police as a thank you for their service to the community.  Please bring your Little Debbie Snacks or Lance Crackers to the church now through the Picnic on October 9th to participate in this event.  For more information call 704-791-8361 or email her at hahughes7@yahoo.com .

The Young Adults of Mt Hermon (and friends) are invited to gather at the Afton Tavern on Friday November 18th at 6:30 p.m.  They will meet every 3rd Friday of the month at various places for fun, fellowship and connection.  Call Christy Nall Beaver for more information 910-220-2653.  The Afton Village is located in Concord, just off exit 54 (George Liles) and I-85 near the YMCA.

Barbara Linker, and team (Ruth Barringer, Shelley Cooke, Nancy Jones, Susan Faggart) presented awards for Faith Learning Hour attendance for 2010-2011 on Sunday, September 11th.  Ruth Barringer was awarded a pin for over 50+ weeks, awards for the highest attendance in each grade included Emma Gosse, Michael Gosse, Justine Keever, Seth McKinnon, Olivia Jones, Cadence Olszewski, Cyrus Sousley, Gideon Sousley, and Sean Walsh.  Faith Learning teachers were also recognized for their contributions throughout the year.   Thank you to all who teach and participate in faith learning each week.  

"My Father's House", A Ministry Partnership of Cooperative Christian Ministry, is in need of Van Drivers who can drive a 15 passenger van.  We currently are in need of van drivers to transport our guest families between the Day Center and Host Churches on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  If you can help with either of these days, please contact Dean Lewis at  704-938-5203 or email him at  dlewis@coopertiveministry.com .  .
