Copeland's Corner
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. (1 Corinthians 12: 4-6)
How is the Spirit activating Mt. Hermon? There are a number of congregations in the ELCA and other denominations that bear the name Mt. Hermon. Yet, there are no other congregations anywhere that are called like Mt. Hermon. The same Spirit activates all of these congregations bearing the name Mt. Hermon but there is only one Mt. Hermon that the Spirit is activating like us. What is that unique way that the Spirit is activating this congregation? In October, it will be our delight to discover just that. We will be looking to discover the verb of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church in Concord, NC.
Home Gatherings in October: You will have the opportunity to sign-up and participate in a home gathering during October. These home gatherings will be fellowship opportunities, centered in prayer and focusing on discovering the verb of Mt. Hermon through the sharing of experiences and passion for Christ. Three questions will be asked and discussed concerning the activation of God's Spirit in the past, present and future. If you have a passion for Mt. Hermon and the future journey toward the Kingdom, please sign up for one of these gatherings.
Find the Verb Dinner October 30th: There are many who love crossword puzzles. In those puzzles you take the clues and discover how the words fit together. Gathering together all the verbs and nouns discovered in the home gathering stories, we will be doing the same for Mt. Hermon. We will be gathering for dinner and then putting together the puzzle in order to discover the verb, noun and helping verbs given by the Spirit to animate Mt. Hermon.
Living into Our Verb: In November, there will be an effort to live into our verb more through stewardship. How can we use our verb to focus and enliven the mission and ministry of Mt. Hermon and the whole people of God?
There will be more information and details coming about this wonderful journey. If you have a heart and passion for the Lord and a desire to serve him through Mt. Hermon, please consider your participation in this process. God bless us as we discover together the gift of our verb.
Pastor Keith

Sunday, September 11th at 9:30 a.m. in the main church, we will be celebrating Rally Sunday, where we acknowledge the many children and adults who have attended faith learning throughout the year. Please join us at 9:30 am (after the 8:30 am service). You are also invited to the Teen's Open House to show off their new and improved Teen Room (entrance in the back parking lot).
September is also the beginning of the new school year, so if you do not belong to a faith learning group, now is a good time to begin. Dear Members and Friends of Mt Hermon Lutheran Church:
The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ Ephesians 4:11-12 As a disciple of the Lord, we can rest assured that when we are seeking His plan and purpose, we will be successful, because true success lies in the "doing" of God's will.
Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your support and prayers the past few years as I have been training for rostered leadership as an Associate in Ministry for the ELCA. I have learned much from you and know that Mt Hermon is truly a blessed community of believers that is eager to spread God's love and Word to the world. I ask for your continued prayer as the call process begins in October and I will continue to pray that God will shower you with love, peace and happiness so you can go out in the world and let Him radiate through you!
Peace and Love, Lisa McKinnon |
