Positioning

Story

Most people who travel anywhere in this day and time use Global Positioning Systems or GPS devices. These devices are able to map out a journey from Point A to Point B using satellite positioning by overlaying beginning coordinates and the ending coordinates over available roadmaps. They then direct the traveler from Point A to Point B based upon the preferences specified. Easter is the GPS (God Positioning Story) for the Christian journey. Through the Easter journey, we will be able to identify the starting and ending coordinates, ensure that our maps are current, identify the correct voice to provide instructions, install this story in our lives, receive the directions from God and begin the journey which takes us from here to there. Easter is only the start of the journey.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Keith

God's Work Our Hands

Creating Your Personal Mission and Vision Statement

Do you hear God's call to service?

Do you want to know how to articulate that call?  A personal mission and vision statement can help us be more intentional about the ministry and mission we are called to.  It allows one to live into the mission and vision and become all God is calling us to be.

Come join others to learn more about ourselves as we listen for God's voice within and then speak and pray what we hear.

And you will hear a voice behind you, saying "This is the path.  Walk ye in it." -Isaiah 30:21

Children's Faith Learning Class

family literacy WE NEED YOUR HELP!

  The "English as a

  Second Language"

  class at Mt Hermon

provides, not only skills in learning the English language, but also provides opportunities in life people would not have otherwise.  This is an important ministry for Mt. Hermon, but we need your help.  We provide a program for children every Wednesday so the parents can attend the ESL classes, but we need workers who can offer one or two Wednesday nights a month to this project.  Lisa McKinnon has activities ready for whoever can offer their time and talents to work with children.

Please call Lisa McKinnon 704.787.0880 to find out more about this program or to sign up for a Wednesday night!

flood1 Conference Room Flood

  As you may know,

  Mt. Hermon had a

  pipe burst in the

Conference Room, which leaked down into the teen room, about six weeks ago.  There was damage to the flooring in the conference room, and the teen room lost almost everything.

Since then, the room was dried out and aflood2 new subfloor was installed.  Carpet was installed last week so the Conference Room is up and running.  We are still in the process of fixing the teen room.  Thank you to William Arnder for donating his time and talents in restoring the electricity to the teen room! Thank you to Bill Coleman and Tim Bolick for painting sealer on the walls.   Next, comes the paint, the ceiling tiles and painting the floors.  Then we will be ready to restore the rest of the room (furniture, etc.).

We are asking if anyone has some specific items to donate:  a Foosball table in good working order, a Flatscreen TV (32"), and a DVD player.  The teens will bring their own talents to re-decorate the walls with some graffiti art.

We hope to have the teen room up and running within the next two weeks!

Lisa McKinnon and Bonnie Walsh will be attending the Synod Assembly with Pastor Keith on June 2-4.  They will represent Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church at the assembly and have vote on the current issues.  We look forward to a report soon after assembly from Lisa and Bonnie on all they experience!

Lisa, Bonnie and Linda Beauregard will be attending the Pre-Assembly Event on Prayer on June 1-2.  Lisa will be teaching a class on the "Lutheran Rosary", and Linda will be teaching classes on "Spiritual Direction" and "Journaling as a Way of Knowing Yourself and God in a Deeper Way."

Please keep all in your prayers during this Synod Assembly time.
