Mt. Hermon Is In Need of Updated Computers
It has been a number of years since we put together the Computer Room for our Children's Program. The children enjoy the games and programs that are biblically based and teach children in a way that they are eager to learn. There are many games and websites available today that have very good teaching content, but with computers that are not technically up-to-date and do not have WiFi capability we are not able to update our materials or access the online programs. If you have a computer (laptop or PC desktop) that you can donate to Mt. Hermon that is 3 years old or newer, please consider a donation to Mt. Hermon's Children's Program or the Teen Program. Contact Linda at 704-782-2326 xt 102 or Nancy Jones at 704-784-4987.

"Walking Together Sharing Christ"
Pastor Mark Ericson, an Ambassador from the NC Synod, came to Mt Hermon Saturday, September 25th. We shared a pot luck supper, then dialogued about how God is changing our lives through ministry. Nanette Thompson and Ruth Barringer spoke about the Quilting Ministry of the Fellowship Club. They have been quilting over 10 years and have made over 1,000 quilts, given to Hospice to give comfort those who are dying. Many letters have been received over the years expressing how much these quilts have meant to the hospice patients and their families. Danny Garmon and Seth McKinnon spoke on the youth who attended the Lutheran Youth Conference in 2009. He spoke about the generosity of the congregation to make this experience possible for young people. Lisa McKinnon spoke about the Literacy Program that supports A.T. Allen School during the summer. This program is designed to help a child to learn through the summer so they do not lose the foundation they have learned in school over the year. The "English as a Second Language" (ESL) class is an offshoot of this program and continues year-round. Pastor Ericson spoke about us being Ambassadors of Christ to others through our ministries here on the local level, and through the mission support given to the ELCA to make a difference in the world. He challenged us, who once made our church grow through growing our families, to now make it grow through spreading God's Word in the community. He encouraged us to go beyond ourselves to those who do not know Him (Jesus) and grow the church through Word and deed. He encouraged us to continue to work with the NC ELCA Synod to help keep our ministries strong. We learned a bit more about the challenges of the ELCA in keeping up the good work they have done over the years, through economic struggles in our hard-hit NC (Charlotte) area, and through our brokeness. The Synod supports Mt. Hermon and other Lutheran churches through providing resources, leadership training (seminary and AIM), communication, Natural Church Development coaches, call committee training, mission work, Confirmation Sharehouse, and much more. Thank you Pastor Mark for sharing yourself, the ELCA ministry, and helping us reflect on what Christ is doing in us (as a local church) and in us as the NC ELCA, and in the world. |

Giving At Mt Hermon - Thank You
Thank you so much for responding to the needs at Mt. Hermon. We are slowly gaining on our amount to be prayed over. Please keep up the prayers and your second mile giving - no amount is too small to help. We can continue to help with the amount-to-be-prayed-over by doing the following: 1. Catching up on our Sunday offerings. 2. Making a second mile gift along with our regular Sunday offering. 3. Make a commitment to add $1, $5, $10, $20 to our weekly giving. 4. Pray for hearts that grow closer to God and grow in giving back to
Him ever more generously. Thank you for supporting God's work in the world through the ministries and mission of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church! God is doing great things through our many works. |
Thank You
To: Our Dear Church Family - Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers during our time of sorrow. Also thank you for your gift - we greatly appreciate all of you so much. Tim & Becky Barrier Congratulations
To: Tim Barrier, Jr. and Jessica Allen on their marriage at Mt. Hermon on Saturday, October 2nd. We wish you every blessing and grace.

You Are Invited!
Hello Girlfriends,
Wishing you could get away for a mini-vacation? We've got your ticket!
"Wonder Full World" is an unforgettable travel-themed retreat the women of our church are doing together. It includes worship, Bible Study, and time for laughter as well as time for quiet reflection.
At "Wonder Full World" we'll travel to each of the seven continents. While there, we'll explore wonders of a woman's heart, such as "I wonder if I matter to God" or "I wonder where God is when life is hard." We'll find the answers to each of these questions in the Bible and discover more of God's amazing love for us.
We'll begin with dinner on the evening of Friday, January 21, 2011 at 5 p.m. and will finish by 4:00 p.m. on the afternoon of Saturday, January 22. Our retreat will be held at Camp Agape' and the cost is only $80 per person! This covers 3 delicious meals, fun and refreshing activities, and comfortable lodging.
Call me at 704-787-0880 for more information.
Take time to relax, to make new friends, to worship, and to explore God's wondrous love. We hope you'll join us at Wonder Full World! Warmly,
Lisa McKinnon
