Sunday Faith Learning Classes:
The Road to New Relationship with God, Yourself & Others | Faith Learning Classes are not only a place to learn more about God, Scripture, our faith story, and how to live out our faith today, it is also a place to build relationships with other Christians who believe as we believe. It is a place to support others and be supported in our faith-walk. We can learn from one another how to pray together, how to laugh, how to speak about God in a safe, comfortable environment, how to connect God's life with our everyday life, and how to face difficulties with the support of a faith-filled community. Come learn with us! New classes are posted on the various bulletin boards around the church and give more explanation of the class.

Summer Literacy at Mt. Hermon Was A Big Success! |
The Summer Literacy Class ended last week, August 11th, with a cookout. We had 33 children who received school supplies. The most EVER!! We have 19 children scheduled for childcare while their parents are in ESL class each Wednesday beginning this week. We are going to be reading with them, using flash cards, and helping them with their English and math skills as well. The more they learn with us the better it will be for them in elementary school. I was touched last week by a 14 year old Hispanic girl who helps during literacy. She will not graduate till she is 20. She said she was held back for 2 years because of her lack of English skills. We can make a difference! Thank you for all your help this summer.

Rally Sunday - September 12th | On Sunday, September 12th at all Worship services, we will recognize Mt. Hermon's children and adults, teachers and students, who have participated in Faith Learning over the past year. We invite everyone to participate in one of the many faith learning opportunities on campus, so we can grow together in the love and understanding of God. |
Currently over 30 families are supporting the mortgage emphasis. This includes 12 new families who began supporting the Mortgage Fund since our emphasis began. We've received 2 larger gifts - thank you to the families who offered these gifts. In July, giving to the Mortgage Fund put us in excess of the monthly mortgage need for the
first time in many months - Thank you.
Please consider a $5, $10, or $20 offering each week to help us burn the mortgage for our next Anniversary.

The Natural Church De-velopment Team met recently after taking some time off this summer. We are meeting to finalize our NCD Action Plan, including imple-mentation dates. We presented a draft NCD Action Plan at our congre-gation meeting earlier this summer. The original survey which involved 30 participants and focus group discussions that involved over 90 participants indicated we as a congregation need to deepen our loving relationships. Mt Hermon has some existing strong loving relationships. Through this NCD process, we want to deepen our loving relationships throughout our church family by: 1. Improving the Understanding of
"True Loving" Relationships 2. Improving Communications 3. Identifying and Creating "Loving Church Activities" 4. Identifying Our Core Values If you have questions, please see one of your NCD members: Rick Grochoske, Rose Yukel, Christy Nall, Scott Hutula, Zach Fox, Jay Perkins, Lisa McKinnon, or Linda Beauregard. |

From CVAN - Thank you so much for your gift of $1,200 for our "Men for Change" Campaign! We appreciate the confidence that you show in our work. Your commitment to battered women and children helps us bring change in their lives. In the space of a 45-minute call on our hotline the tide can turn. After a morning in the courtroom, or an hour in support group trading stories, she can see a glimmer of hope. Your kindness and support for women and children in our community does make that difference. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Mary Margaret Flynn,
Executive Director
From Linda Beauregard - Thank you so much for the cards, gifts and beautiful flowers for my birthday. Someone must have known I love daisies! I appreciate so much your thoughtfulness in helping me celebrate.
God bless you,
Linda |
