KAT Votes to Change Transit Routes
KAT Last month, the Knoxville Transportation Authority (KTA) approved route changes which will take effect on August 16, 2010 with KAT's move to the Knoxville Station Transit Center.  The planning process for these changes began more than a year before, with the Transit Development Plan study, and continued with the formation of a KTA committee charged with overseeing the process and a series of public input meetings.  Nearly half of all input received from the public was incorporated into the final approved plan.

The route changes are intended to improve the efficiency of passenger travel through the use of new outlying transfer locations, make the system easier to understand with consistent schedules, and improve on-time performance.

As August 2010 approaches, KAT will be conducting extensive outreach to customers to ensure that all are aware of the changes and how the system will operate.
