Dear SEPTA Members & Friends,

Spring is in the air and we hope you are all enjoying the freshness of this season.  Of course, it is a very busy time of year for us all as well.

We hope you will join us for another important speaker program on Tuesday, March 27th at 7:30 p.m. in Hommocks Library -- Dr. Michelle Greenberg will present on Cognitive Behavior Therapy - learn more below about this and other programs.  Also, in this newsletter we share information for parents of elementary school children - please see our article on "Preparing for Your Teacher's Conference".

SEPTA invites members to serve on its nominating committee to identify candidates for next year's SEPTA Board.  If you are interested in serving on the nominating committee or on SEPTA's Board, please contact Cecilia Absher  ctabsher@att.net

SEPTA is here working for you -- through informative speaker programs, casual coffees and our on-going efforts to bring you important resources and information and to advocate for children with learning or social  needs.  Please join SEPTA and consider us in your charitable giving plans.  See the SEPTA website for membership forms and to pay online via PayPal.

SEPTA is the only District-wide PTA serving parents and staff working with children who have learning or social differences or special needs - whether classified to receive special education or not. Please join SEPTA and stay in touch!

Preparing for an Elementary School Teacher's Conference

It is that time of the year again - elementary school conferences.  How can you make the most of your and the teacher's time?  What do you hope to learn and what information should you ask for or share?

If you browse through the various topic headings on the school district's Curriculum & Instruction webpage, you can learn much about the curriculum, state standards, assessments and literacy and math programs.  You will also find links to information about supports such as Response to Intervention and Academic Intervention Services.

We have some tips and suggestions you might find useful as you approach your teacher's conference - Click here for our full article.
Annual Review Survey

SEPTA and the Mamaroneck School District want to hear from parents of children receiving special education when your annual review Committee (or subcommittee) on Special Education process is completed this year.  How did the process go and what feedback do you have?  Please take our survey - click here.
