Dear SEPTA Members & Friends,

 

As we all look forward to the winter break, SEPTA hopes that everyone enjoys the week off and is able to have some time to relax and recharge.

 

Today is the final day to apply for a SEPTA faculty grant - please see the information below.

 

We are pleased to announce an important speaker program upcoming in March - inspirational speaker, Spencer West will present a powerful program - "Overcoming Challenges in Life".  Families and staff are invited and children 3rd grade and up are welcome to  attend.

 

SEPTA is here working for you -- through informative speaker programs, casual coffees and our on-going efforts to bring you important resources and information and to advocate for children with learning or social  needs.  Please join SEPTA and consider us in your annual  giving plans.  See the SEPTA website for membership forms and to pay online via PayPal.

 

SEPTA is the only District-wide PTA serving parents and staff working with children who have learning or social differences or special needs - whether classified to receive special education or not. Please join SEPTA and stay in touch!

3. Spencer Will talk candidly about the struggles he overcame in life after losing his legs.  He speaks about overcoming bullying and sterotyping and about overcoming personal obstacles

Annual Review Survey
 
SEPTA and the Mamaroneck School District want to hear from parents of children receiving special education when your annual review Committee (or subcommittee) on Special Education process is completed this year.  How did the process go and what feedback do you have?  Please take our survey - click here.
 
SEPTA Grants - Applications Due Today
 

What are SEPTA Faculty Grants? SEPTA faculty grants provide funding, typically in the $200 - $500 range, for creative programs, equipment or pilot projects that enhance and support the educational experience for student2010Granteess with disabilities. 

 

The deadline for all grant requests for this school year is today, Friday, February 17, 2012.

 

All proposals will be carefully considered, although it may not be possible to fund all requests. Click here for some guidelines and a simple SEPTA Grant Proposal Form for your convenience. Do not hesitate to contact us before the deadline with any questions.

 

SEPTA is very proud to support our teachers, and we look forward to receiving your proposals!

Join Us for Coffee & Conversation    
 

SEPTA is hosting parent to parent coffees at the Nautilus Diner - 9:00a.m.

on March 7th and April 25th. 

 

Do you have a question about something you have heard or about navigating the special education or support services world?  Are you confused or concerned about your child's progress in general education or special education or about their social-emotional situation?    

 

This is a wonderful opportunity for parents who have a child in any grade (or pre-K) who learns differently or who has social or other needs, whether or not the child receives support services, to meet and share insights and ideas.  SEPTA members with lots of experience will be there.
