In this issue we announce an important parent program coming next week -   Naturopathic Ways to Help Children with Learning Differences.

 

SEPTA is here working for you -- through informative speaker programs, casual coffees and our on-going efforts to bring you important resources and information and to advocate for children with learning or social  needs.  Please join SEPTA and consider us in your annual  giving plans.  See the SEPTA website for membership forms and to pay online via PayPal.

Upcoming SEPTA Program

 

 

Explore Naturopathic Ways to Help Kids with Learning Differences: Presentation by Dr. Shelese Pratt, ND -- Monday December 12th, 7:30 pm Hommocks Library

 

Dr. Pratt believes in integrative medicine, combining the best approaches of medical doctors and holistic therapies.  She is well known for her revolutionary work in brain integration and brain specific nutrition, which has been proven to help kids with learning differences. 

 

Dr. Pratt will discuss her methodologies and explain more about brain integration therapy and other homeopathic ways to help kids with learning differences.  Dr. Pratt has a family practice in Stamford CT, and specializes in classical homeopathy and nutrition.  She has treated many patients with ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, sensory processing disorders, as well as, autistic spectrum disorders.  This program is relevant for parents of children with a range of challenges or needs - whether they receive special education or not.

Join Us for Coffee & Conversation    
 
SEPTA is hosting a coffee at the Nautilus Diner - 9:00a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15th.  This is a wonderful opportunity for parents who have a child in any grade who learns differently or who has social or other needs, whether or not the child receives support services, to meet and share insights and ideas.  SEPTA members with lots of experience will be there. Property Tax Cap: It's Here, Now What? 

Tonight - Monday, December 5th, 7:30 pm, Hommocks Library.  Come learn the ABC's of the new tax cap and what it means for our children and the future of our schools.  The District will host this interactive community forum. Learn the facts and give your input.   

Did You Miss The SEPTA Seminar on Time Management?
 

On October 30th, Leslie Josel gave a parent workshop that realy hit home with many parents --  "It's 10pm: Have you Done Your Homework Yet?"  

 

Leslie Josel's presentation included an overview of time management pitfalls and strategies relevant for teens, and concerned parents of future teens.  To learn about Leslie's suggestions, click here.

SEPTA is the District-wide PTA that supports children with differences, staff and parents from grades pre-K through grade 12.  Your membership and support enables us to provide informative speaker programs, parent programs, in-depth newsletters and grants to teachers and other staff that benefit children and help them succeed.

Backyard Sports Plus - Special Needs Soccer Program

Sports for Kids with Special Needs. 

Winter Soccer Program.  Sundays 10:00 - 10:45 and 11:00-11:45am.  Runs January 8th - March 25th. 

 

Parents of kids with special needs may try the program for free to see if it is a good fit for their child. Scholarships for families with financial need are available.
