Pledge to eliminate five minutes of idling a day |
 The Town has introduced a new Anti-Idling Strategy, focused on reducing GHG emissions and improving air quality in Ajax. The strategy includes a new bylaw, a public awareness campaign, and idle-free zones. Pledge online to eliminate five minutes of idling a day. |
Review draft concept design for St. Francis de Sales |
 The Town will host an open house on October 28 for residents, youth, community groups and organizations to review the concept designs for the former St. Francis de Sales Church. The building will become a multi-use arts, cultural and performance venue. |
33 Roosevelt designated as heritage site |
A plaque unveiling was held last week, where 33 Roosevelt was designated as a heritage site. The apartment, with others, were constructed during WWII to house the managers and supervisors of Defense Industries Limited (DIL), the largest ammunitions plant in the British Commonwealth. |
Experience the Fall Migration Festival |
Join the Town of Ajax and Toronto and Region Conservation tomorrow (Oct. 24) to celebrate the phenomenon of bird migration. Learn about migratory birds and participate in conservation activities. |
On your mark, get set, Run Ajax! |
 This coming Sunday (Oct. 25), 350 runners and walkers will participate in Run Ajax - the Town's annual waterfront half marathon. Come out and cheer on the participants!

Walk with Ajax to the 2010 Winter Olympics |
Be a part of the Town's Pedometer Challenge and help log the 6,250,000 steps needed to get from Ajax to Vancouver - the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Over 2.75 million steps have been logged to date. | |

Interested in climate change and the environment? |
The Town has prepared a Draft Official Plan Amendment (Draft OPA) intended to provide stronger ecosystem-based planning principles and policies for land uses and development. Come to an Open House on October 27 to learn about and discuss the draft changes to the Town's Official Plan that will address a number of environmental challenges. |
Floats, vendors and marshals wanted for Santa Claus Parade |
The Town is inviting local organizations, companies, businesses and community groups to enter a float in this year's Santa Claus Parade, being held on Saturday, November 14. The deadline for entry is November 2. |
Get your tickets for Ajax on Stage! |
Tickets are now on sale for Ajax on Stage - the Town's Youth Talent Showcase. Tickets are $4 each, and available at the Ajax and McLean Community Centres. This year's event is being emceed by Canadian Idol Judge and musical promoter, Farley Flex. |
E-waste event brings in over 37,280 lbs. |
The Town of Ajax, along with the Region of Durham, hosted an E-waste on October 3 - inviting residents to bring their unwanted and broken electronic and electrical equipment to Ajax Sportsplex for free recycling. Over 37,280 lbs. (or 16.9 tonnes) of electronic waste was collected. |
